the amazing things you'll be doing
The number of tourists visiting Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha & Mikumi National Parks is limited and this, together with their immense size, makes them ideal for travellers seeking a sense of isolation, exploration, and discovery. These parks display phenomenally beautiful and wild landscapes and possess an impressive diversity of wildlife and virgin bush.
You will stay in semi-permanent safari camps based in either comfortable & stylish A-framed tents or small bandas with proper beds, furniture and en-suite bathroom facilities. The wide range of landscapes and habitats makes these Southern Parks ideally suited for combinations of game drives, walking and boat safaris. A daily choice of assorted safari excursions is on offer. This trip will give you a truly unforgettable, classical Africa-style safari experience.

travellers' tales
Having an elephant peer through the door of our banda was quite a surprise, but my favourite part was meeting lots of locals and learning bits of Swahili and tribal dialect. (more)
don't leave it too late!
Please note that due to the nature of tailor-made trips to Sub-Saharan Africa we need at least 14 days between time of booking and departure. This time is essential for you to sort out passport, visa and health requirements and for us to make all the necessary holiday arrangements.how this holiday makes a difference
|
The number of tourists is capped in Selous and Ruaha to limit the environmental impact of tourism. All camps are created to exist in harmony with nature and to ensure optimal enjoyment of the diverse landscapes & habitats and its teaming wildlife, whilst also conserving the environment. They for example use solar power for lighting and warm water supplies.
Sable Mountain Lodge donates 10% of its profits to local community development projects. They also operate an interest fee loan scheme which their staff can apply for in order to make significant lifestyle developments (e.g. purchase of land for a family home, school fee for children). |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
