the amazing things you'll be doing
This area offers treks for all fitness levels and holidays with different lengths of time. It has trips for easy family groups as well as extremely adventurous climbers. This flexibility makes it the most popular trek route in Nepal. Low and high altitude walking holidays as well as short hikes can be done in the region.

Our trips enhance the cultural and environmental diversity of this region, enriching the whole holiday experience by combining stunning natural beauty and a good trekking workout with a wholesome cross-cultural experience.

For family getaways or people in a rush, a 5 day hike in the lower Annapurnas will reach an altitude of 3250m with magnificent views from the southwest corner of the circuit at Poon Hill. In February, it also goes through a Rododendron forest in full bloom which is an experience in itself. Treks that classify as walking holidays are the half Annapurna Circuit (West) which takes 7-10 days (max. altitude 3802m) and an 8 days Manang experience (max altitude 3790m).

A full trekking experience can be got in the Base Camp trek (11 days) half Annapurna (East) (12 days), the full Annapurna circuit (16 days), the Annapurna Circuit and Sanctuary (24 days), which reach altitudes of 5416m at a high pass.

For one seeking high adventure, climbing the trekking peaks could be a source for a healthy rush of adrenaline. Para treks in the Annapurna sanctuary which combine trekking and para gliding make it interesting for the high flyers.

A multi-activity trip in this region can combine some trekking, paragliding, rafting and jungle safari with a chill-out in the lake side town of Pokhara.

The best times to visit this region is mid-Oct - end-Nov and the later half of February when the days are crisp and the scenery stunning. For those who prefer travelling at less populated times, any other dates between mid-September and mid-May does not reduce the experience by much.

travellers' tales
The jungle tour in Chitwan’s national park was fantastic. We enjoyed elephant rides through the jungle, came close to wild rhinoceros and crocodiles and learned about the local wild life, plants and culture. The accommodation was second to none. (more)
travelling with a local operator
This holiday is operated by a company based in the holiday destination and they will be able to provide expert local knowledge. They will be able to tailor make your holiday to suit your requirements not only concerning the dates of travel but also typically the standard of accommodation, and thus price. It is rare for local operators to be able to help with the booking of your flights.
how this holiday makes a difference
Travel in remote areas of Nepal provides direct employment and economic returns to guides, porters, small family run lodges and small enterprises. Priority is given to local level community based initiatives.

A focus on ensuring spread of income amongst the different players means that the company never integrates vertically. It instead develops partnerships with the stakeholders leading to mutually rewarding relationships.

A zero litter policy in travel is encouraged, increasingly diminishing the amount of waste in the fragile environment. All trips also focus on conservation of the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Being a local company means that most of the tourism dollar also goes into the country where the money is needed the most. 10% of our profits support development projects in rural areas and 10% goes towards employee welfare.

The company follows a value based decision making system tuning all business actions towards values related to respect, continued excellence in delivery, importance of conservation, corporate social responsibility etc.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
