day-by-day itinerary
| Day 1-2: | Hanoi. Explore Vietnam's pleasant and picturesque capital, with its green parks, tree-lined streets and lovely lakes. Enjoy an evening water puppet show and take a cyclo ride through the Old Quarter where vendors trade painted t-shirts, watches and shoes. |
| Day 3-4: | Halong Bay. Cruise the warm waters of Halong Bay with its towering limestone peaks and stalactite-filled caves. Legend has it the bay was created by the flailing tail of a dragon. Keep an eye out for that other legendary creature, the Tarasque, who is said to inhabit these parts. |
| Day 5-6: | Hue. A former imperial capital and important Buddhist centre, Hue maintains a tranquil atmosphere. Visit pagodas, royal tombs and the lively Dong Ba Market. |
| Day 7-9: | Hoi An. Travel past fantastic coastal scenery on the way to the ancient town of Hoi An. There is the opportunity to meet local kids on a visit to a school, get some clothes tailored or head out to the beach on bicycle. |
| Day 10-12: | Nha Trang. Cruise the turquoise waters among offshore islands where we have the opportunity to visit the aquarium and laze on a private beach. Back in Nha Trang, head down to the beachfront in the early morning for a unique exercise experience. |
| Day 13-15: | Ho Chi Minh City. There is so much to do in the bustling Saigon. Scoot off on cyclos to the lively Chinatown area, have a local style lunch in the Ben Thanh Market or escape the heat at the Saigon Water Park. |
travellers' tales
The holiday we booked with you to Vietnam was everything I hoped it would be and more! Perfect for families as there was something of interest for everyone. (more)
small group family holiday
This is a 'small group family adventure' - typically you will join several other families and travel in a group of approx. 16 people. The trips are great value and a great way for you and your children to meet new people! While itineraries are pre-planned there is some flexibility and you'll have plenty of time to yourselves. Most adventure kids tend to be aged between 7 and 15, but some are younger (minimum age is usually 5) and some older (perhaps travelling as part of a larger family group). Please check with the operator to confirm the minimum age for this trip highly commended
This tourism business was Highly Commended in our 2007 Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Awards - the largest awards of their kind in the world, and organised by responsibletravel.com in association with The Times, World Travel Market and Geographical Magazine, of the Royal Geographical Society.Since 2004, the Awards has recognised individuals, companies and organisations in travel making a big commitment to the culture and economies of local communities and helping to conserve biodiversity.
how this holiday makes a difference
|
Recently we have recognised that many families would love to explore Vietnam our way, thus this trip was born. It provides a wonderful opportunity for families to discover the diverse, beautiful, fun and child-friendly land of Vietnam, while interacting with local people, and travelling in a responsible and culturally respectful way.
Your group leader and the local guides we use along the way will help to break down barriers in your interactions with local people. Vietnamese people love children, and as a family you will be whole-heartedly welcomed by the local people. In addition, we travel by some local transport, to facilitate and encourage interaction with local travellers. In Hanoi, we see some traditional water puppetry, and learn some of the history of this charming multicultural city. In the beautiful World Heritage town of Hoi An we visit a local school, to allow some interaction with the local kids. Your leader will explain the range of projects we support in Vietnam, and it may be possible to visit some of them in your spare time. At the end of our journey, travellers may donate any unwanted clothing, medicine and bandages, which are distributed to appropriate local charities. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
