Chilterns (Moderate / adventurous mountain biking)
£195 (2 days) 2008: 11 Jul.
Based in Wendover and easily accessible from London by rail or road, the Chilterns offer a cracking mix of forest singletrack and open farmland, with plenty of superb descents (and a cheeky climb or two). With the odd technical section to keep you on your toes (none are too daunting and are aimed at the less experienced), our routes take in the ancient Icknield Way and Ridgeway. Accommodation for the weekend is at a superb 17th century coaching inn, perfect for post ride ‘relaxation’.
Lake District – Euphoric Ulswater (Moderate mountain biking)
£195 (2 days) 2008: 19 Sep.
Riding from our accommodation in Penrith, we take in the beauty of the Northern Lakes, passing castles and travelling through open fells. With Stunning views of Blencathra and neighbouring mountains, we sample a wide variety of off-road riding, at a manageable level. You’ll ride rocky river beds, steep descents, rewarding ascents, and single track traverses, all within the capabilities of those quite new to off-road riding or for those just wanting a great weekend!
Derbyshire Dark Peak (Challenging / hard core mountain biking)
£145 (2 days) 2008: 30 May, 24 Oct.
Located at the start of the Pennines, with Kinder Scout and Mam Tor looking on, this part of the Dark Peak is prime mountain biking country. Based near to the Edale and Hope Valleys we explore the most spectacular and challenging terrain the Dark Peak has to offer. Riding is varied with singletrack, open heather moors, tough climbs and rewarding descents. The famed technical Jacob’s Ladder awaits, as do the Lord’s Seat and the magnificent trails around the Derwent and Ladybower reservoirs.
South Downs Way (Moderate / adventurous mountain biking)

Whilst not requiring technical expertise, a good level of overall fitness is required. As usual we have the back up of our support vehicle throughout, including your return transfer on the final day. Scheduled around Bank Holidays we recommend you book early for these trips!!

this tourism business was Highly Commended
In our 2005 First Choice Responsible Tourism Awards, the largest awards of their kind in the world, and organised by responsibletravel.com in association with The Times, World Travel Market and Geographical Magazine. The idea behind the Awards is that all types of tourism – from niche to mainstream – can and should be operated in a way that respects and benefits destinations and local people. how this holiday makes a difference
|
Global adventures start with a local perspective – that's the our philosophy. Whether abroad, or just as importantly at home, the start point is the same; how to get the most enjoyable holiday for our customers while benefiting the local people, economy and respecting the environment.
Cycling is a great way to explore the countryside, travelling at a speed that enables you to take in the surroundings without damaging the environment. Our UK mountain bike tours follow a variety of designated tracks and bridleways, minimising damage to the counrtyside. In each of our locations, such as the Derbyshire White Peak and Dorset, we use local guides, small independent B&B's, guest houses and hotels to ensure that the money stays in the local economy. Where we provide food we aim to use locally produced product. We provide travellers with Travellers Codes that encourage the reduction of water usage, systems for collecting, recycling or safe disposal of litter and relevant suggestions to minimise damage to the environment, wildlife and marine ecosystems. All our holidays have a maximum group size of 12 to 15 people minimising both the social and environmental impact. We work with and support Sustrans and the development of the excellent National Cycle Network and use these routes for our UK Cycling Breaks. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
