introduction to Climb Mount Toubkal, tailormade
At 4,167m, Mount Toubkal is the highest mountain in North Africa. The hike to the summit is challenging, but it requires no mountaineering experience and the panoramic view from the summit makes the hard work worthwhile.
With the start of the trek just a couple of hours drive from Marrakech, you can reach the summit and back within a week and still have time to explore Morocco’s most captivating city.
After a night in Marrakech, you will be taken by private vehicle to the Berber town of Imlil for the short hike to Aremd.
Your first night on the trek is spent here enjoying the hospitality of a simple but comfortable Berber guesthouse before your trek begins in earnest. From Aremd, it is a three day trek to the summit and back, spending two nights under canvas at the refuge halfway up the mountain before returning to Marrakech.
On the trek you will be accompanied by an experienced local guide, and a mule with muleteer to carry all your equipment. Your tents will be set up and your meals cooked for you, leaving you free to concentrate on the walking. On your return to Marrakech, you will have time to explore the city in the company of an experienced bilingual guide before your flight home.

traveller reviews for Climb Mount Toubkal, tailormade
This was probably one of the best trips I have ever done (and I have travelled a fair bit). We spent the first night in a Riad which was sumptuous and almost made us want to forget the planned trek into the High Atlas however off to the mountains we went the next afternoon. This was a truly unforgettable trek. (more)

how this holiday makes a difference
|
Unique in Morocco, our ground operator (a Berber company) works closely with many small Berber villages throughout Morocco, helping them in many ways to improve their standard of living. Money from your trip goes directly to help some of these local community development projects such as bringing water and electricity to remote villages.
We were voted most responsible tour operator by UK NGO Tourism concern. On average 75% of the cost of your trip with us – excluding flights – remains in the destination. Flights are automatically carbon offset through The Travel Forest, which plants 10 indigenous trees on your behalf (currently in northern Tanzania). Whilst the primary motivation for planting the trees is to offset carbon emissions, the project also works as a poverty alleviation and environmental improvement scheme. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
