the amazing things you'll be doing
Your trip starts in Rio - an incredibly lively city with plenty to do both during the day and at night. Its dramatic setting in between the mountains and the sea provides the perfect backdrop. In stark contrast Paraty is a compact colonial port that lies 4 hours to the south.
The journey down the coast is stunning with the mountains dipping straight in to the sea. Paraty's charming cobbled streets house plenty of local restaurants and boat trips to the nearby beaches provide a chance to relax and appreciate the scenery. You will enjoy the natural beauty of the happening town of Buzios. It is a small and cool place.
It is great for snorkelling, relaxing in the beach and boat trips. Your journey ends beside the 2.5km long Iguaçú Falls. Both higher and wider than Niagara, it is a truly spectacular sight. The falls are situated in a well looked after national park, in a sub-tropical region of Brazil. On the other side of the river lies Argentina and a day can be spent exploring the waterways that provide one with different breathtaking views of these complex waterfalls.
Highlights include:Staying in the impressive Stucco fashioned Copacabana Palace, Rio's most traditional and luxurious hotel Roaming the cobbled, car free streets of colonial Paraty Abracadabra in Buzios with its spacious rooms looking over the sea Iguaçú Falls

tailor made holiday
This trip can be tailormade to create a unique holiday for your individual requirements by travel experts with intimate knowledge of the destination. It is a more luxurious trip that will suit those who enjoy immersing themselves in new cultures and environments before relaxing in comfort in some of the best and most characterful local accommodation! Quality and value are the hallmark of these trips.how this holiday makes a difference
Our itineraries are not about theme parks or man made developments, but seeking out beautiful unspoiled places, enjoying watching the wildlife and mountain scenery or visiting historic monuments. The money from tourism into National Parks and heritage sites encourages their protection, and ensures their future. Paraty has been declared a national historic monument in its entirety. We use a small locally owned pousada there. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
