the amazing things you'll be doing
Habitat conservation in Kenya
Kenya is lush, fertile plains, spectacular beaches and snow-capped mountains. It is also the East African corridor across which millions of animals migrate from the Serengeti in the south to the vegetation in the north. Kenya is also home to 42 tribes, including the world-famous Maasai.

Choose a volunteer project in Kenya and make a difference in a rapidly changing country. Overseas volunteers are needed to help people tackle the challenges of living in harmony with nature during a time of huge population growth. In addition to reforestation projects at Mount Kenya – Africa's second highest mountain – there's teaching work in the fertile Rift valley and care work projects with street children in the capital city of Nairobi.

Help tribal leaders meet their goal of planting 3 million trees at the foot of Africa's second largest mountain. This is an ideal project for those who love the outdoors and hiking. Working with local volunteers, your activities might include preparing seedbeds, replanting fully-grown seedlings, removing foreign "invader" plants, or helping with general maintenance.
volunteer travel - what's it all about?
Are you are looking for an adventurous trip with a purpose, or on a gap year or career break? If you want to make a difference in some of the world’s most important conservation areas - and in community projects - then volunteer trips are for you! Volunteers tend to have a sense of adventure, and come from a range of different backgrounds and from all over the world.
Edward Abbey said 'sentiment without action is the ruin of the soul'.
how this holiday makes a difference
After years of taking our environment for granted, we're finally making the effort to put things right and leading by example are the Kenyan tribes living at the foot of stunning Mt. Kenya. Their goals of planting 3 million new trees are an inspiration to us all and a huge undertaking.

Our dedication to this project and others like it sees a steady stream of volunteers in and out of the area, guaranteeing that the reforestation effort in this part of Kenya is moving forward. In addition to making an impact on the environment, volunteers have the rare opportunity to live in and become a part of Kenya's communities; an experience that you just won't get as traditional tourist or even a backpacker.

As well as volunteers, a charity has been set up to donate materials and other needs to all projects we support and these gifts are made on a bi-annual basis.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
