KwaZulu Natal boasts a range of dramatic landscapes from sub-alpine heights to grasslands and golden beaches. This is a landscape that has inspired the adventurous traveller to explore and discover since white man first landed 400 years ago.
We explore the majestic Drakensberg Mountains and see the rock art legacy left by the San, which has resulted in the proclamation of the area as a World Heritage Site. You will walk the ancient rhino paths of one of Africa’s oldest reserves, Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Park, renowned for its rhino conservation, visit the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park the first area to be proclaimed a World Heritage site in South Africa and have the option to learn more about the historic Battlefields. A truly varied and exciting programme exploring the length & breath of the Kingdom of the Zulu.

day-by-day itinerary
| Day 1: | On arrival in Jo’burg you will catch a connecting flight to Durban. Pick up hire car and drive to Natal Midlands. Overnight Granny Mouse’s Country House (B&B). |
| Day 2-3: | After a short mountain bike ride, make your way to the UKhahlamba Drakensberg Mountains. Explore the World Heritage Site’s beauty on foot and discover the intriguing San Rock Art. Overnight Didima Camp (half board). |
| Day 4: | Drive to Hluhluwe / Umfolozi National Park, one of the oldest game reserves and wilderness areas in Africa. This is big game country, where the white rhino was saved from extinction. Today the park has the largest concentrations of both rhino species as well as plenty elephant, lion, buffalo and all the common species of game. Enjoy a night game drive with one of the Park’s rangers. Overnight Hilltop Camp (B&B) |
| Day 5: | Start the day with a guided game drive with a Park ranger and remainder of day to enjoy the park on a self-drive basis. Overnight Hilltop Camp (B&B) |
| Day 6: | Drive to the border town of Kangwanase, where you will be picked up by 4x4 to the mouth of the Kosi Lake estuarine system. This is where the Tonga tribe have practiced sustainable fish trapping for 400 years. The rest of the day to relax on the beach and snorkel in the safe waters of the lagoon. | Day 7-8: | Two full days to relax and snorkel in Kosi Bay. Overnight Kosi Forest Lodge (Full board) |
| Day 9-10: | Make our way to the Mozambique border and Tembe Elephant Park. Two nights in a tented safari camp enjoying open safari vehicle game drives visiting the water holes, which are magnates for wildlife in this water poor area. Overnight Tembe Safari Camp (Full board) |
| Day 11: | Travel to St Lucia village in the Greater St Lucia Wetlands (now named iSimangaliso), where you will do a sunset cruise on Santa Lucia. Overnight Avalone Guesthouse (B&B). |
| Day 12-13: | Spend the last two days relaxing and soaking up the sun on the beach at Balito on the Natal Coast. Overnight The Boathouse (B&B) |
| Day 14: | Return to Durban for internal flight to Jo’burg in time for your international connection home. |

Kosi Forest Lodge is situated on community land and operated on concession basis. Local community benefit from each bed night, as well as employment, specialist training and produce bought locally. Tembe Elephant Park is join venture between KZN Wildlife and Tembe Tribe to amongst others protect the elephant population in South Africa. |
