This tour by minibus or coach covers some of the best World Heritage and historical sites in Romania including old cities such as Sibiu, Brasov and Sighisoara. You will also visit places and castles associated with the legend of Dracula that realistically reflects the picturesque and mystical landscape of this part of the world. Not least you will see some of the fabulous painted monasteries of Bucovina that give a real expression of the relationship between the population and the church in days gone by. You will pass through contryside where the agriculture is truly organic and almost mediaeval in practice in some respects.






day-by-day itinerary
Day 1:Bucharest – Sinaia (130 km) Pick-up from your hotel (or from the airport) and depart for Sinaia, one of the best mountain resorts - nicknamed the “Pearl of the Carpathians”. Accommodation in Sinaia
Day 2Day 2: Sinaia – Brasov – Bran – Sinaia (130 km) Today you will visit Sinaia Monastery and Peles Castle, a marvelous piece of architecture, which served as the summer residence for King Carl I the first king of Romania.You will drive on to Brasov, where you can take a short walking city tour of this fairy-tale town founded in the 12th century by the Saxon settlers. Visit the Black Church – largest gothic style church in South-Eastern Europe and St. Nicholas Church, followed by the museum of the First Romanian School in Transylvania. On your way back to Sinaia you will stop at Bran free to lunch on your own and visit Bran Castle. Built in the 14th century by the merchants from Brasov to protect the old border between Valahia and Transilvania, Bran Castle is also known as Dracula’s Castle. Accommodation in Sinaia
Day 3:Sinaia – Sighisoara – Sibiu (270km) After breakfast you leave Sinaia behind and head on to Sighisoara-the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler. The town. a Saxon medieval fortress, is part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage being the best preserved and continuously inhabited early medieval citadel in Eastern Europe. Lunch at leisure, then proceed on a walking tour of the town. Visit the famous Clock Tower Museum with its Torture and Weapons Rooms and stop in the house in which Dracula (Vlad the Impaler) was born in 1432. Late afternoon departure to Sibiu. Accommodation in Sibiu.
Day 4:Sibiu – Sibiel – Sibiu (70 km) In the morning you may enjoy a comprehensive walking tour of the city which was European Capital of Culture in 2007. Here you’ll see arcaded mediaeval shops and houses, the Small Square, the Liar’s Bridge, Huet Square and the Cathedral, where the son of Vlad the Impaler (another of Dracula’s names) was assassinated. Around noon you drive to Sibiel Village where you can admire the Glass Icon Museum and enjoy a hearty Romanian lunch at a local farmhouse. Accommodation in Sibiu.
Day 5:Sibiu – Piatra Neamt (300 km) After beakfast in the hotel , we drive to Bucovina through the Bicaz Gorges, one of the most spectacular limestone formations in Romania. Reach Lacu Rosu (Red Lake) where we stop to admire the beauty of the mountains and the surrounding woods. In the afternoon you will arrive in Piatra Neamt for accommodation.
Day 6:Piatra Neamt- Bucovina area-Piatra Neamt (350 km) Today is a full-day tour of the famous painted monasteries of Bucovina: Moldovita Monastery and admire the black pottery in Marginea Village then visit Sucevita Monastery - the best preserved of all with imposing walls and defensive towers. Finish the tour with Voronet Monastery- the "Sistine Chapel" of Eastern Europe, famous for the blue colour used by the artist as background for its frescoes. Return to Piatra Neamt for accommodation.
Day 7:Piatra Neamt– Bucharest (370 km) You will have breakfast at the hotel before departing to Bucharest. Late arrival to Bucharest followed by a panoramic city tour of the Romanian capital, once called “Little Paris”. The tour includes the open air Village Museum, the Revolution Square, the Patriarchal Church, the Military Academy, the Arch of Triumph. Farewell dinner with folklore program. Accommodation in Bucharest.
Day 8:Your program ends after breakfast Transfer to the airport with free time before or extend your stay with a special package tour in Bucharest.
