"The broad range of activities available on this holiday and the chance to relax as well, sampling the local food and wine, make for the perfect combination in my mind. Sea-kayaking in the sparkling blue seas around the Croatian islands is a really beautiful way to experience them."

the amazing things you'll be doing
Croatia holiday, activity week: By keeping guest numbers to a maximum of 8 per week we are not restricted to the normal schedules that limit most activity style holidays. Each evening we can look at the following day and plan your activity according to the weather (wind/sea) conditions, as well as your fitness level and area of interest.

Our house is part of Rukavac old town, a small settlement of five homes built by brothers in the early 1900’s. The property has been sympathetically restored to a high standard. The house has 3 double en-suite bedrooms (one of which sleeps a family of 4), an open plan living room & kitchen, chill-out loft space, a large outside balcony area and a boules area.

The fresh, local produce that you will enjoy is an important part of your healthy, reenergizing holiday experience. The mouth watering meals prepared at the house will be predominantly vegetarian whilst the restaurants on the Island specialize in Lamb and Fish dishes.

Breakfasts will be served daily. Lunch will be served on 4 days. This may include home made soup & salad or a picnic lunch if you are out on an activity. An evening meal will be provided on 3 evenings. Evening Meals will include several courses with wine. On the other evenings we will recommend and book at any one of the excellent restaurants in Vis, Komiza, Rukavac and a number of inland villages. We will provide transport to and from the restaurant so that you can enjoy a glass of wine.

Each day is planned the evening before, giving you the ultimate flexibility to enjoy activities in the very best conditions. You choose the length, duration and attractions that each activity has to offer from a large and varied selection that will be offered. An example of a days activity may look like;

Early morning kayak / breakfast at Stiniva Bay / coastal path walk up to the village / Mountain bike return to the house / salad and wine / mid day nap / enjoy the afternoon sun and a snorkel down at Srebrena bay / transported to ‘Rokis’ restaurant to sample their famous ‘slow food’ – you’ll certainly have an evening to remember!

Included in the price: Transfer from Vis Town Ferry Terminal, 7 nights accommodation, 5 days guided activities, breakfast on 7 days, lunch/picnic on 4 days, evening meals with wine on 3 days, transfers to and from restaurants on 4 evenings, bed linen and towels. Flights, Ferry, Insurance & other Island activities (paragliding, fishing) are not included in the price.

travellers' tales
The Island of Vis was beautiful, unspoilt, quiet and unlike anything we have come across before. Our hosts Craig and Xania shared their beautiful home, organised appropriate levels of activity for all members of the family and interacted with our three children brilliantly. (more)
how this holiday makes a difference
Private transport for guests on the Island is not recommended. We will provide pick up and drop off to and from the ferry along with transport to and from local restaurants. Daily transport will involve a combination of kayak, bicycle and foot – far more suited to our goal of enjoying and preserving the beauty of Vis island.

Certain days may include a picnic in an isolated bay – guests will be actively involved in the process of carrying out waste. There as been resurgence in agro-tourism on the island. A number of small, private lots, growing grapes, olives, and lavender are beginning to appear. A tour of one of these initiatives to revive the ‘old’ trades will be highly recommended. Another important area of economic growth on the island is the restaurants – guests will eat out and sample their delights on 4 evenings out of 7.A number of activities can be booked through local operators, for example: paragliding and scuba diving.

We have installed a new drainage system to collect rainwater from all the roof area of the property. This can be then used to water the lemon tree, herb garden, vines, and be used at times should the water supply to temporarily suspended.

There are a number of small, private olive and wine producing enterprises that are once again beginning to spring up on the island. We hope to develop links with such projects and provide access for guests to observe traditional methods of agriculture that are being revived.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
