The festival is set in Antalya, the capital city of Antalya province, often referred to as the Turkish Riviera. The city is blessed with a beautifully mild Mediterranean climate and a breathtaking coastline that is backed up by the spectacular Taurus mountains. It is a natural setting reminiscent perhaps of Rio De Janeiro, whilst the palm fringed, beach side boulevards also make it feel like Turkey's answer to Miami.

Known by ancient Greeks as Pamphylia, "land of tribes", the province of Antalya boasts some 300 days of sunshine a year, 630km of shoreline liberally scattered with ancient cities, amphi theatres, historic harbours, Lycian tombs, stunning beaches, waterfalls, canyons, secluded coves and lush forests, all of which are easily accessible from the city.

The price includes: Luxury accommodation at the super chic Hillside Su Hotel, Airport shuttle service in Antalya, Full 5 star buffet breakfast, Evening meals at the superb "Red" restaurant, and the festival event itself; all parties, live performances and special workshops such as yoga, belly dancing, capoeira etc.

Complimentary facilities at the hotel also include; indoor pool, spa, large modern gym, steam room, sauna etc.
how this holiday makes a difference
We are constantly exploring ways to make this festival and its impact as sustainable and responsible as possible.

Community
The hotel is locally owned and managed; it is an innovative, independent venture that is not part of an international chain. It trains local employees to the best international standards, and staff are paid well above average wages and have contracts of employment with agreed conditions and healthcare benefits. The hotel has a separate organic buffet section serving certified organic food purchased from local farms. We hope to benefit local businesses, and local guides, by organizing a series of low impact activities like cable skiing – avoiding use of speedboats, trekking, mountain biking and sea kayaking.

Environment
Rubbish is first separated then sent for recycling. Sheets and towels are washed only when necessary, signs in the rooms inform guest not to change towels everyday if there is no need to; saving considerable water and energy as a result.

The festival: Sunsplash is offering discounts for those who travel by land and train as opposed to air. Festival programs will be printed on recycled paper. The program will include a Responsible Travel Code of Conduct, informing guests on how they can reduce their impact on the environment and local community. We are actively seeking suitable conservation organizations / charities whom we can support by donating a percentage of any profits from the festival.

The number of people attending is limited to 500 people only; smaller group, less impact. Not only this, but the crowd profile, led by the distinctive music policy are responsible, musically and culturally discerning individuals. This is not a mass tourism event and does not cater for loud, badly behaved undesirables. Our attendees by the very nature of their attraction to this event are expected to be conscious of responsible tourism and good conduct. At the end of the festival, all guests will take part in a thorough beach cleaning program.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
