  • how this holiday makes a difference
This accommodation is of direct benefit to the local community. Firstly because we use local services to maintain the property, secondly because your meals and food are purchased in the village and thirdly because it helps us to maintain the land we farm. We are committed to maintaining the biological and agricultural diversity of our farmland and by staying in our cottage you are actively contributing to this process.

Terrace at Alicante holiday cottageWe are committed to reducing the environmental effects of our holiday cottage by recycling. This means that all paper, plastic and glass is separated and deposited in the appropriate recycling container. The remaining material is sent to a central recycling plant where organic and non-organic materials are separated and sent for composting or recycling.

The house is fully insulated and has double-glazing to minimize energy losses. We have a low energy use washing machine and encourage guests to shower instead of bath to minimize water use. The toilets are equipped with a full or half flush mechanism. We publish a leaflet with information about the holiday cottage and ways to save energy and a booklet with full information about restaurants, bars, shops and services available in the village.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
