the amazing things you'll be doing
The Highlands of Scotland are the perfect place to enjoy an exciting family holiday, perhaps introducing children to the great outdoors for the first time. Bonnie Perthshire in the Southern Highlands is a fantastic and easily-accessible location for this small group family adventure.
Ideal for families with children aged 9-15 years, there will typically be 4-6 like-minded families with a maximum of 16 people, and the activities will be enjoyed by everyone - not just the children! From nature walks and rock climbing to gorge-walking and open canoeing, the activities will introduce you and your family to some exciting and fun outdoor activities.
The group of 16 is normally split into 2 smaller, more manageable groups and our fully qualified guides will ensure that safety is always the key priority. As well as guided activities, you will have some free afternoons which will allow you to spend time together as a family while visiting some of Perthshire’s other attractions, such as castles, wildlife centres, trail-marked forest walks and whisky distilleries. Families of any size are welcome to join this trip, although larger families or those with older or younger children may prefer to book a private trip - please contact us for more details on our tailor made private family trips.

how this holiday makes a difference
|
Despite its beauty, the Highlands and Islands is one of the least affluent regions of Scotland. By bringing the benefits of tourism to this area and using local services and produce, we help to support local businesses, create employment and contribute to the overall sustainable development of the region.
Our guides are experts in minimal impact behaviour and will explain to clients how they can act responsibly whilst in these wilderness areas. Visits to these rural areas helps to sustain these small communities and makes them a viable place to live – this is particularly important in the Highlands, which has seen much depopulation of rural communities in the past due to economic pressures. We encourage families to travel to the Highlands by rail - a memorable journey and also a sustainable method of travel. All activities are accessed directly from the Guest House (in the sample itinerary above) so no car is required. We ask any families who wish to fly to Scotland to begin their trip to pay a small voluntary fee to neutralize the carbon effect of their flight. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
