day-by-day itinerary
Day 1-2:Sydney. Discover the magic of this beautiful harbour city on our tour, which includes the world-renowned Opera House, the historic Rocks area and Bondi Beach.
Day 3-4:Hunter Valley. Cycle among the wineries and savour the delights of historic Hunter Valley. We stay overnight in bush cabins, with the opportunity to spark up the barbie or head to a nearby pub for a schooner or two with the locals.
Day 5:Myall Lakes. Indulge in some canoeing or sailboarding on the waters of Myall Lakes where sand dunes, lush rainforest and spectacular beaches meet. We then hike to Yacaaba Headland for gorgeous views before slowing down for a lakeside sunset.
Day 6-7:New England farmstay. Experience life in rural Australia on our traditional farmstay where we get our hands dirty with some yabby farming, sheep shearing and mustering. We also check out the region's nocturnal wildlife.
Day 8:Northern NSW Hinterland. Discover the natural beauty of northern NSW on our drive along the Waterfall Way, taking in cascading waterfalls, rugged gorges and pristine national parks.
Day 9-10:Byron Bay. Explore beautiful Bellingen before heading to Byron Bay, where adventure activities such as hang-gliding, surfing, parasailing and mountain biking beckon. Alternatively, chill out in a cafe while soaking up the atmosphere of this colourful town.
Day 11-12:Brisbane. We cross into Queensland and head for Brisbane. Take a ferry ride across the river to the beergarded at the Story Bridge Hotel or check out the local arts scene at the Queensland Cultural Centre.

highly commended
This tourism business was Highly Commended in our 2007 Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Awards - the largest awards of their kind in the world, and organised by responsibletravel.com in association with The Times, World Travel Market and Geographical Magazine, of the Royal Geographical Society.

Since 2004, the Awards has recognised individuals, companies and organisations in travel making a big commitment to the culture and economies of local communities and helping to conserve biodiversity.

how this holiday makes a difference
We have covered all the highlights, but it is how we go about it that makes this trip special. We use local transport in Sydney, eat in locally owned, run and flavoured establishments. Rather than travelling as a coach load of tourists, we get out of bikes, or get up on our feet, and explore the rainforest, the beach, lakes and sand dunes. There is no better way to preserve the scenery than canoe gently through the waterways.

We stay in locally owned accommodation, and take the time to experience a range of genuine Aussie lifestyles. There is plenty of time on this trip to enjoy the scenery with canoeing, surfing lessons, dolphin kayaking, and there is also time to enjoy the culture with local pub nights, yabby racing and much more.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
