12 days Brisbane to Cairns
Brisbane, Sunshine Coast hinterland excursion, Fraser Island 4WD adventure, cattle station farmstay, tropical beach paradises, Cairns

Combining rugged adventure and beachside recreation, this is tropical Queensland at its very best! This fantastic trip offers the perfect balance of rural and beach time, action and relaxation, coastal hotspots and out-of-the-way gems!

Join us and be amazed by the diversity of Queensland, from quaint hinterland villages to beach resorts and rainforest retreats to island stays. We do and see it all in two truly spectacular weeks.
day-by-day itinerary
Day 1:Brisbane. Fresh-faced and green, Queensland's capital 'Brissie' provides a warm welcome and is the perfect place from which to explore Australia's north.
Day 2:Hervey Bay. Driving through the stunning Sunshine Coast hinterland, we arrive at Hervey Bay - a coastal haven for swimming, fishing and relaxing. Along the way, stop at Noosa Heads for a relaxing interlude among the lush forests, rocky headlands and tranquil beaches.
Day 3-4:Fraser Island. Kick back in this island paradise of washed-up shipwrecks, teeming wildlife and natural beauty. Enjoy a leisurely swim in the island's freshwater lakes or venture out to Indian Heads for a bout of shark-watching.
Day 5-6:Outback farmstay. Have a true blue, dinki di Aussie experience at a family-owned cattle station. Milk a cow, muster some goats or learn to lasso before sitting down to a delicious bush dinner. Tonight we set up our swags and sleep by the camp fire.
Day 7-8:Airlie Beach. Meditate on the desolate beauty of outback Australia en route to Airlie Beach. Swim, snorkel or bask in the sun on our yachting excursion in the Whitsundays.
Day 9-10:Mission Beach. With the South Pacific on one side and lush rainforest on the other, Mission Beach is as close to a tropical paradise as it gets. With white-water rafting, sea-kayaking and skydiving options to choose from, there is plenty to keep you occupied. Here, we stay in unique rainforest huts.
Day 11-12:Cairns/Barrier Reef. Our adventure ends in Cairns, gateway to the spectacular underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef.

highly commended
This tourism business was Highly Commended in our 2007 Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Awards - the largest awards of their kind in the world, and organised by responsibletravel.com in association with The Times, World Travel Market and Geographical Magazine, of the Royal Geographical Society.

Since 2004, the Awards has recognised individuals, companies and organisations in travel making a big commitment to the culture and economies of local communities and helping to conserve biodiversity.

how this holiday makes a difference
On this trip you will discover the beauty of the reef, rainforest and the ranch. We'll spend time communing with nature, locals alike. We stay in eco-friendly accommodation, discover how locals help protect and rehabilitate the wildlife when we visit a rescue centre, and learn about many other environmental issues facing Queensland.

We enjoy the outdoors, camp out under the stars, shop for traditional art, and get back to nature in the Sunshine State.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
