the amazing things you'll be doing
Following trails that lead deep into the forested highlands of north eastern Vietnam, we appreciate the village culture and impromptu celebrations of this isolated region’s hill tribes and ethnic minorities.
From the capital we journey north into the Ba Be National Park full of lush forests, gushing waterfalls and towering peaks. Venturing well beyond the tourist trails we trek right into the hills and visit a diverse range of ethnic groups based not far from the Chinese border. We cover around 20km each day, walking with a full support crew and spending each evening in traditional village guesthouses. This journey will be an unforgettable interactive experience that few can claim to have experienced.

how this holiday makes a difference
|
A wonderful trek deep into the remote hill tribe villages of northern Vietnam relies on its cultural sensitivity and its low impact on the environment. In a small group and in the company of our local guides you will explore deep into the forested highlands of northeastern Vietnam. After each day’s walking on this superbly supported trek you will be warmly greeted into the unrivalled hospitality of village guesthouses each evening. This wonderful opportunity to share stories and enjoy impromptu celebrations is an amazing experience for all.
As you will appreciate on this trek, Vietnam’s ethnic minorities inhabit some of the most visually stunning regions of the country. Here in the mountainous north the downside is that much of the land that they occupy is hard to cultivate and is prone to extreme weather conditions. Their remote location means that doctors and hospitals can be located several days walk away. As part of our commitment to these villagers we aim to ensure that the benefits associated with tourism are shared by all. To this end we our local staff in Vietnam sponsor and co-ordinate medical teams to trek into these remote parts of the country to enable the local communities to receive regular health check-ups for the old and infirm as well as immunisation programmes for the young. All travellers are provided with our award-winning 20 page Responsible Travel Booklet which outlines our environmental guidelines and practices and will provide you will clear details on how you can play a vital part in reducing your impact on the fragile environments and cultures around the world. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
