the amazing things you'll be doing
This itinerary, although more adventurous, offers the opportunity to explore much more of this fascinating country.

Starting at the temples of Angkor, you will have several days to discover these magnificent monuments. Leaving the town of Siem Reap you will embark on a temple safari visiting some more remote ruins.

From there you take in the sights of the capital before heading North to the remote and beautiful province of Ratnakiri for several days. At this point you could either return to London (via Phnom Penh) or extend your trip with a stay at the beach resort of Sihanoukville.
best time to travel
The best time of year to travel to Cambodia is during the dry season, November to April. You can travel in the rainy season (May to October), however road conditions could be bad and you may be unable to do the temple safari.
day-by-day itinerary
Day 1:Fly from London Heathrow to Cambodia via Bangkok with Thai airways.
Day 2:On arrival in Siem Reap you will be met and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon you will enjoy sunset at the spectacular Angkor Wat.
Day 3:Today you will have the opportunity to explore the magnificent temples of Angkor. In particular you will visit the oldest of all the Angkor era temples, the Rolous Group. Here you will be able to see a traditional Khmer School located at the temple. The school is sponsored as part of our Responsible Tourism project.
Day 4:In the morning you will embark on your temple safari. On the first day of the safari you will travel to the temple of Preah Khan where you will overnight in an African safari style tent.
Day 5:On the second day of your temple safari you will continue eastward to the capital Phnom Penh and overnight at the historic Foreign Correspondence Club.
Day 6:In the morning you will transfer to the airport in time for your flight north to the remote province of Ratnakiri. In the afternoon you will enjoy a visit to the mythical Yeak Laom Crater Lake.
Day 7:A full day exploring the area with your local guide, including a visit to an ancient tribal ceremony and local ethnic villages.
Day 8:Depending on which day you choose to travel you will either return to Phnom Penh and on to London Heathrow (via Bangkok) or spend one more day exploring Ratnakiri.
tailor made holidays
This trip can be tailormade to create a unique holiday for your individual requirements by travel experts with intimate knowledge of the destination. It is a more individual trip that will suit those who enjoy immersing themselves in new cultures and environments, with the flexibility to plan a trip at your own pace. Quality and value are the hallmark of these trips, with most services being provided on a private basis.
how this holiday makes a difference
In Southeast Asia it can be difficult to find hotels and companies that do not have western origins. However, all the guides, hotels and restaurants this itinerary features are Khmer owned. Our small boutique hotels employ local staff and the Foreign Correspondence Club in particular has been part of Khmer history for decades and is an important Phnom Penh landmark.

By travelling overland from Siem Reap you will be contributing to the local economy along the way and by staying in an eco-friendly safari tent you will not be disturbing the peacefulness of Preah Khan temple.

In Siem Reap you will have the opportunity to visit Le Loi School at the Rolous Temples where you will be able to give donations and contribute to our Responsible Tourism project.

The most important responsibility of tourism is to experience the real attributes of a country and contribute to the local economy. Cambodia is an emerging tourist destination with stunning countryside, beautiful people and magnificent temples and definitely worth a visit!

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
