the amazing things you'll be doing
Our Search for Sirigu, 11 day tour takes you on an amazing adventure to the Upper East region of Ghana. This region is the smallest in the country but also the most culturally diverse. There are over 33 different dialects spoken here, you can travel from one village to the next and find the local tongue differs greatly.
Our journey takes us to areas seldom visited by tourists experiencing life how it really is for most Ghanaians in the remote parts of the wonderful land. A definite highlight of this tour is spending a few days with our friends in Sirigu, a quite remarkable village where we are made to feel so welcome. We trek the hills of the Talensi people searching for the cave of the oracle, through some of the most beautiful habitat and views in the country.
Throughout our journey our main focal point is mixing with the locals at every opportunity learning their cultural values and traditions, whilst staying within their communities knowing our presence is benefiting some of the more deprived areas of Ghana. We are sure on our 11 day tour to experience the colourful and warm hospitality of the varied ethnic groups within Ghana and immersing yourself in their diverse culture and traditions, is an experience that will live with you forever.
Our Feel the Real Ghana, 14 day tour takes you on an amazing adventure of discoveries across the tribal lands of this wonderful country. During our travels we immerse ourselves into the culture and daily life of the many ethnic groups we encounter, sharing life experiences and making friends during our journey.
This tour takes us to more than 4 community development and wildlife conservation projects within different regions of the country, we dedicate quality time staying within these communities learning the history behind their establishment. Our presence here contributes to the sustainability of these all important sites and benefits the local economies in these remote areas which are seldom visited by tourists. travellers' tales
To pick one would be impossible - but how about visiting and dancing with new friends from a Lobi village while listening to their incredible music (one of the "instruments" was a shovel) or following an elephant's footprints, then hearing him, particularly the sound of his ears flapping, before seeing him. how this holiday makes a difference
We hope that by increasing responsible tourism in and around Ghana’s vulnerable wildlife parks and areas, the Ghanaian government will see the economical benefits and stop the deforestation, and increase government resources into protecting Ghana’s fragile flora and fauna. By visiting and supporting local eco tourism projects and benefiting the local economy, we encourage the continuation and protection of the local culture, history and traditions of these communities. We ensure the revenue is used for projects that benefit the whole community, which encourages them to protect the surrounding wildlife and flora. By booking this tour, a percentage of the profits goes towards our community project of improving school facilities in Womasi village. We employ local guides, drivers and cooks during all our tours, we source supplies where possible from the local communities & aim to use local businesses wherever possible. We encourage our guests to purchase goods and souvenirs locally & support our community project. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
