the amazing things you'll be doing
The beautiful island of Lesvos (also known as Lesbos) lies in Greece's northern Aegean Sea, overlooking the Turkish coastline. It is an island rich in history, natural beauty and archaeology, with picturesque towns and villages to explore.
Activities include:Sailing Funboats Waterskiing and windsurfing Kayaking Snorkelling and scuba diving
Our resort is situated at one end of a beautiful bay on a long stretch of fine golden sand with the charming village of Skala Eressos a ten minute walk along the beach. The quaint cafés and restaurants of Skala Eressos are built with bamboo-covered decks extending out over the sand on stilts, the perfect place to enjoy some traditional Greek hospitality.
Facilities
The resort has been built in typical Aegean style, with extensive grounds that give the hotel a wonderful feeling of space. The light and airy reception area is centrally located, near the bar and the main restaurant, with both indoor and outdoor seating, to allow for alfresco dining. Here you will also find the beauty treatment rooms and spa with Jacuzzi, sauna and small gym. The outdoor restaurant area looks out over the extensive, well maintained lawns with winding pathways leading to the sun terrace and large pool. The two level design of the pool allows keen swimmers as much space as those simply wanting to cool down in its waters. A great feature is the bar perched on the edge of the pool, so you never have too far to walk for a refreshing drink or ice-cream.
Our children's clubs can be found in the corner of the lawns, close to some of the interconnecting family rooms. The base for older children is within the main hotel, though most of their time will be spent out and about making the most of the club's facilities.
The large beach has plenty of room to house our windsurfing and sailing equipment, a volleyball court and beach bar - perfect for a refreshing drink. Once on the wide, sandy beach, it is a short distance to the gently shelving water's edge, where boats and boards can be easily launched. The waterski pontoon, boats and ski equipment are all close at hand. Located towards the inland end of the club are three tennis courts and our fleet of mountain bikes, conveniently located with easy access to the network of local mountain biking trails.
Accommodation
118 rooms, exclusive to us. Rooms are located in either the main hotel or in attractive villa style hillside rooms. The majority of rooms in the two-storey buildings of the main hotel are located around the large pool and gardens with pool or partial sea views, whilst some look back over the surrounding hills. Here there are standard twin or double rooms, a selection of interconnecting family rooms with two bathrooms and a spacious suite with double bed and a lounge area with a sofa bed.
The hillside rooms are located behind the main building. These two-storey villas are built in a traditional style, on a gently sloping hillside amongst colourful gardens and house our split level suites, junior suites, standard family rooms and rooms suitable for three adults. A few minutes stroll from the pool and restaurant, these spacious rooms offer a peaceful haven with impressive views towards the beach.
The split level suites offer spacious accommodation over two floors. The master bedroom is on the first floor with a double four poster bed, bathroom with jacuzzi bath and attached shower and wc, TV and DVD player. On the ground floor there is a lounge area with sofa beds, a wc and a balcony.
There is also a number of junior suites with twin or double bed, bath and/or shower, and a separate lounge area with sofa bed - great for couples looking for more space or families with older children. Spacious family rooms have master bedroom with twin or double bed and second bedroom with twin beds and sofa bed separated by an internal door, bath and/or shower and a balcony or terrace. Due to the hillside position of these rooms, they are more suited to families with older children.
All rooms are to a high standard with bath and/or shower, wc, air conditioning, direct dial telephone, satellite TV, safe, hairdryer, fridge and balcony or terrace. Some junior suites and hillside rooms also have a small kitchenette with sink, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities.
PLEASE NOTE: This holiday can be booked with or without flights. Flights are available from the following UK airports: Manchester and Gatwick. When enquiring for further details it would be very helpful if you could let us know how many people are in your party.

travellers' tales
Absolutely brilliant, well done....The whole experience from start to finish was perfect and I couldn't fault a single thing. (more)
how this holiday makes a difference
Local school children initiative: Pre-season, all the pupils of local school (teenagers) were invited to the hotel with their teachers. They were given an educational tour of the hotel, played tennis, and had a great buffet lunch. This was followed by a quiz, where they were tested in a numbers quiz about their time at the hotel (e.g. how many flowers have we planted in the last week, how many gears are on the mountain bikes, how many staff do we employ, etc). The two winners, a boy and a girl, won the prize of being able to come to the beach as often as they wish during the summer for watersports lessons. Both have since progressed very nicely and have achieved their RYA Level 1 and are now able to bring a friend each time to take them out sailing. This initiative was very well received indeed in the local community. Riverbank Replanting initiative: Pre-season, I met an ex-pat in the community of many years, Don Matthews. He was very interested to learn about our company and I explained to him our responsible tourism initiatives. Over successive meetings, I have committed to him that, when time allows, we will send a team of staff to assist in clearing/replanting the local riverbanks, which have suffered over the recent years as a result of rain shortfalls and poorly executed river management schemes. Local Dog refuge: We made a cash donation of €100 to the Local Dog Refuge, which takes care of the stray dog population and finds them new homes throughout Greece and the rest of Europe. Use of local suppliers: Wherever possible, we are using local suppliers for our main food supplies. We have negotiated very good prices for local meats, which (considering the volume requirements of this hotel) has inevitably positively affected the local economy, including additional employment of staff at his operation. Additionally, we buy some of our fruits and vegetables locally, as well as cheeses and other food. We have been auditing all the hotels and operations we run to see how they perform against a sustainability checklist created by Travelife, an independent initiative, funded by the EU and supported by the Federation of Tour Operators. Hotels are classified according to their sustainability performance and this resort has gained the Travelife Gold award, for businesses who lead the way with advanced sustainability actions, encouraging others to become involved. They encourage others to be involved, seek continual improvements and actively communicate their progress. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
