the amazing things you'll be doing
This is true holiday perfection.

Blend gorgeous beaches, great food, rich culture, warm weather, sapphire seas, stunning scenery and picturesque villages with walking, cycling, snorkelling, fresh seafood... and you have the Islands of the Gods.
day-by-day itinerary
Day 1-2:Ubud. Bali's cultural heart has a vast choice of galleries and shops for art lovers to explore. Trawl the Gianyar night market for delicious local food or take in a traditional dance performance.
Day 3:Sideman. Take a leisurely bike ride through back lanes, villages, rice paddies and past beautiful temples - a great opportunity to meet the locals.
Day 4:Mt. Batur. Sample a traditional 'bungkus' (take-away) lunch in the cool mountain air of Sideman before moving on to a small fishing village by Lake Batur.
Day 5:Banyupoh. Hike to the summit of Mt Batur in time for sunrise. Trade mountains for the beach and a chance to snorkel, scuba dive or swim in pristine waters. Days
Day 6-7:Lovina. Laze on the beach or go in search of dolphins. Get off the beaten track exploring colourful coffee and clove plantations before taking a dip beneath a hidden waterfall on a half-day walk in Munduk.
Day 8:Ubud. Admire one of Bali's most beautiful temples, Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, situated in the centre of a glassy lake, before travelling back to Ubud.
Day 9:Lombok (Kuta). Unlike its Balinese counterpart, Lombok's Kuta beach is relatively crowd-free. A bicycle is the best way to discover the surrounding coastline.
Day 10:Tetebatu. Travel to the hill retreat of Tetebatu, right in the heart of the island. With waterfalls, tobacco fields and a pleasant, temperate climate, be sure to head off on an exploration along one of the walking tracks.
Day 11:Senaru. Sitting in the shadow of Mt Rinjani, picturesque Senaru awaits. Explore tiny villages and markets and try a hot cup of locally brewed coffee.
Day 12-13:Gili Islands. Away from the noise of modern life, and accessible only by boat, the Gili Islands are the ultimate getaway. Snorkel, dive or soak up the sun on pristine beaches.
Day 14-15:Mataram. Enjoy a final feast in Mataram before bidding farewell to Indonesia.

highly commended
This tourism business was Highly Commended in our 2007 Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Awards - the largest awards of their kind in the world, and organised by responsibletravel.com in association with The Times, World Travel Market and Geographical Magazine, of the Royal Geographical Society.

Since 2004, the Awards has recognised individuals, companies and organisations in travel making a big commitment to the culture and economies of local communities and helping to conserve biodiversity.

how this holiday makes a difference
During our trip, our group leader and local guides take active steps to ensure our groups behave in an environmentally responsible manner, such as sticking to established trails, not leaving anything behind and not removing any plants in rural areas. They are also always eager to share information about their country and culture, and help you break down barriers in your interactions with local people.

We take time out to see some local songket weavers in Sideman and travel by horsedrawn carts to visit some small handicraft villages near Tetebatu.

Just by visiting Indonesia you are making a huge difference to so many people. The tourism industry has suffered significantly in recent years and any interest from travellers provides a welcome boost to the local economy.

At the end of our journey, travellers are encouraged to donate any unwanted clothing, medicines and bandages for distribution to a village on Lombok.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
