the amazing things you'll be doing
People often only know Malaga through its international airport on their way to other parts of the South of Spain. However, to do so is to miss one of the most beautiful cities on the Andalucian coast.

Malaga has a historic city centre with winding streets, hundreds of tapas bars, a cathedral, Arab castle, the new Picasso museum with over 200 works donated by the Picasso family, lively festivals and nightlife, and nearby beautiful beaches making this a wonderful place to be based at any time of the year.

Your base for the two weeks will be an area up the hill from the former fishing village of Pedrogallego, now part of the eastern suburbs of the city. Mainly inhabited by Spaniards, this residential area enjoys fabulous views over the sea and is easy to reach by local transport from the city centre.

Our school in Malaga has its own mini-campus including a swimming pool, sunny terraces, a restaurant and lively bar, multimedia learning centre and 20 modern classrooms.

This trip includes:
  • 4 group Spanish lessons per weekday morning at all levels from beginner upwards
  • 4 x 2-hour cookery lessons: Each lesson will comprise a brief introductory talk and the preparation of a complete menu
  • 4 dinners, including wine: the participants eat the meal prepared in class together with the teacher
  • Cookery course textbook: an illustrated recipe book including the most famous Spanish dishes
  • Recipe book: a further book of Spanish recipes
  • A cook’s apron: a stylish apron to use during the course and to take home
  • 1 local visit: a visit to a place of gastronomic interest in Malaga
  • Farewell lunch: a sumptuous meal in the famous La Consula cookery school which has the reputation of being one of the top cookery schools in Europe

how this holiday makes a difference
We encourage learning about the country we are visiting, the local culture of the people we work with and the areas we pass through. Our local teachers hold informal talks with groups to inform about and discuss with them all aspects of local life. This helps understanding of the area and appreciation of the people who live there.

By learning Spanish, everyone is able to communicate with local people, even at a basic level. All our language tutors and cookery instructors are local people and they are treated and paid fairly. Food is purchased locally and we use food products with as little packaging as possible, and encourage cooking with local products. Accommodation is provided by local homestay hosts.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
