the amazing things you'll be doing
The island of Sri Lanka is a microcosm of the universe, as it contains as many variations of culture, scenery and climate as some countries a dozen times its size.
The natural hospitality of its people makes it easy for travellers to venture into even the remotest villages. Accommodation is provided in small but very good in quality, clean hotels, Eco lodges and friendly local home staying. Any changes can be done according to your interests and duration of stay.
This tour will give visitors an idea of the different climate, culture, village life style, flora, fauna, food and customs in four different areas in Sri Lanka: 1. Peak Wilderness (wet zone lowland rain forest) 2. Haputale and Ella (highlands and cloudforest vegetation) 3. Kandy (mid hills area ) 4. Sigiriya and Dambulla (dry zone lowland vegetation)
This is a 6 night/7 day tailor made tour for travellers who love to walk around the countryside villages, nature viewing experiences, visititing cultural sites, with many more other local activities as you like. Activities include: viewing of birds, butterflies and other animals, and wild flowers including wild orchids and other native plants in their natural habitats; exploring Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage; visiting homes of local villagers and immersing yourself in their lives and culture; tasting local food; walking, waterfall bathing etc.
Please note: I would be delighted to telephone you to discuss your individual travel arrangements, so please leave your telephone number when you complete the online enquiry form.

travellers' tales
The most memorable part of the holiday was the day I spent with an NGO that was looking at improving the very poor villagers’ lives. It was a very humbling experience to see how they lived. (more)
how this holiday makes a difference
The visitor is given the opportunity to buy quality hygienic food and beverages from villagers including native herbal drinks, traditional sweets, locally available fresh fruits & etc. Visitors are encouraged to buy craft products straight from the village craftsperson. We are not a large-scale venture and we will not promote commercial sales aimed at tourists. Rather we ensure that our rates are reasonable, and that the money you spend will directly and positively affect people at the village level. If the visitor decides to have no meat products (to avoid health risks & other reasons), we make sure that he gets quality organic vegetarian dishes. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
