the amazing things you'll be doing
You'll be staying in a beautiful resort on a tropical island. It is the definition of paradise. There are no roads, no vehicles and no noises. You will enjoy the exclusivity of one of the most beautiful and unspoiled tropical islands you're ever likely to see. It's a fun holiday too. You'll do yoga every morning in the shade of our purpose built yoga sala, right by the waters edge. You'll spend your day either relaxing, getting massaged, exploring the surrounding islands or snorkelling and diving. You will definitely enjoy the delicious and healthy Thai food and mouth watering fresh fruit shakes and cocktails. The resort has it's own infinity swimming pool and the warm waters of the Andaman Ocean come practically right up to it. Sunset yoga and meditation round off the day and why not take a barefoot stroll along the beach to enjoy dinner in one of the neighbouring resorts. One thing you will definitely enjoy is the uninterrupted view of the night sky, with no light pollution you will see the stars like never before.

This holiday will really take you away from it all. The ultimate island experience, you will feel like you've stepped off the pages of the world. It can take a few days to really get into the pace of life, but the indulgence and pampering shouldn't be too hard to adjust to. Life is simple here, yoga, food, swim, yoga, sleep, food! Our host and teacher is there right experiencing it all with you and he is on hand to orgainse diving/snorkelling, massages, trips to the local fishing islands & Emerald Cave and a group sunset boat trip which is included in the package. Bring your camera and your sarong but leave your watch at home...

Activities
  • Snorkelling: Trips with excellent equipement & experienced guides, from shark watch to night snorkelling.
  • Diving: Yoga will help to extend your tank of air and help you remain calm and focused under water.
  • Rock climbing: Some of the best climbing in the world is in Krabi, for beginners to the experienced.
  • Cooking: Learn dishes based on traditional Thai cuisine and adapted for a modern, fast paced world.
  • Hiking: We offer guided hikes around Koh Ngai, but there are also several great trails to explore yourself.

Yoga holiday in Phi Phi, Thailand Accommodation
You'll be staying at the exclusive Thanya Resort which is at the end of a golden stretch of sandy beach. Peaceful and secluded there is little to distract you here. The beach-style bungalows are all made from Teak and each has its own deck. The rooms are air-conditioned and have a minibar. The resort's restaurant is arguably the best on the island and you can sit and look out to sea and the surrounding islands as you eat your healthy breakfast each morning.

  • travellers' tales
Koh Ngai is an ideal escape from modern life - no cars and no roads. You wake to the sound of the sea and the wind in the trees and that continues all day long. We were upgraded to Tarwapin Resort - beautiful. Absolute bliss!! (more)
how this holiday makes a difference
We work only with local businesses. The resort is locally owned and run and uses only local staff. The services included during your stay, meals, the sunset snorkelling trip and the other optional activities offered are all run by local staff.

The dive shop we associate with are actively involved in the Reef Check programme. This is a survey that looks at the quality of the world’s reefs. We also provide information on the tsunami in 2004 and show how local communities are helping to continue to improve things. We can show you the areas that were damaged the most and you will have opportunities to talk with locals and foreigners living on the island at the time on the effect the waves had on the small community. You can donate money to small business and there is always opportunity to volunteer in the ongoing work on the island. Most of the volunteer work has been completed but there is always room for more.

We also operate reef-clean up dives and there are monthly beach clean ups that we encourage guests to participate in. For those interested in the underwater environment we offer eco-tours of the fragile marine system where you can learn about marine preservation. These are run through an adventure club who have an exciting Shark Watch program and who also offer eco tours on land. Guests coming on the trip will no doubt see the effects of man and nature on this island. Your guide will speak with you on how waste is managed on this isolated island and how you can assist with this and with conserving water. Koh Ngai Island is a marine park and the fees which are included in your trip go to the protection of this fragile environment.

As a company we donate 10% of our annual profit to Tsunami affected regions. We operate as a paperless office and have strict recycling policies.

As a thank you for coming on our holiday we will plant a tree in a new forest we've started in Niger, Africa to conquer desertification. Guests will receive a certificate and will have the opportunity to learn more about the project and to monitor their tree, which will be named after them.

As of September 2008, we off-set the carbon emissions for return flights within Europe, and we off-set the emissions for the outward flight of any Europe to Asia flights if the guest offset the return journey. Guests will also receive a certificate for this.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
