One of the most popular treks in Nepal - tinged with the romance of being so close to the highest mountain in the world. From the tiny airfield of Lukla the trail leads through Sherpa villages, forests of fir and rhododendron and across high suspension bridges meeting caravans of zobkyo (a yak-cow crossbreed) along the way. Namche Bazaar is a colorful, bustling market with traders from surrounding villages and as far as Tibet, and from Tengboche the views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam are sensational. Climbing above the tree line to cross alpine pastures and glacial moraine you eventually reach Base Camp, high on the Khumbu Glacier, where colorful expedition tents give a bizarre appearance to this desolate place surrounded by rock, snow and ice.

Day 2:	Monday - Sightseeing. Half Day Sightseeing in Kathmandu with guide.
Day 3:	Tuesday - Phakding. Morning flight to Lukla 2800m - trek to Phakding 2600m - 5hrs.
Day 4:	Wednesday - Namche Bazaar. Trek Namche Bazaar 3450m - 5 hrs.
Day 5:	Thursday - Rest . Rest Day (Thame Valley).
Day 6:	Friday - Tangboche . 3860m - 6 hrs.
Day 7:	Saturday - Dingboche. 4400 m - 4 hrs.
Day 8:	Sunday - Rest. Rest Day (Chhukung Valley).
Day 9:	Monday - Lobuche. 4900m - 8 hrs.
Day 10:	Tuesday - Gorakshep. 5150m - 4 hrs.
Day 11:	Wednesday - Lobuche. Everest Base Camp 5337m - Lobuche - 8 hrs.

how this holiday makes a difference

On this trip, we use a Nepalese trek guide familiar with and knowledgeable about local culture. Our staff are Nepalase (porters, cooks, camp staff etc), and we stay in small, privately owned tea houses/lodges and purchase food locally.

All garbage is removed or buried/burned as appropriate & kerosene is used for cooking when camping. Guests and staff are strongly encouraged to refill water bottles from boiled water and Responsible Tourism guidelines are distributed to all travellers.

Project Support: We have been providing financial assistance to the management of a Panchakanya high school in a remote rural are of Nuwakot district. For the past few years we have renovated 2 rooms, set up a science laboratory room, built a toilet for the students, distributed reference books and stationery to grade IX and X students. We have also provided salaries to two teachers.
