the amazing things you'll be doing
Three centre luxury holiday in Brazil.
Alagoas - 5 nights: The small state of Alagoas has perhaps the most beautiful coastline of all Brazil with mile upon mile of unspoilt deserted beaches. This is where you can truly kick-back, relax and enjoy the easy-going, Brazilian pace of life.
The sea here is warm and crystal clear and the reefs form many natural swimming pools for you to explore as the tide goes down.
Boat trips can be organised up the local, mangrove-lined river, as well as horse riding along the beaches, and mountain biking around this rustic area.
You stay in our favourite boutique hotel of just nine villas a few steps from the beach. For a rustic beach villa these are rather well equipped with DVD player and surround sound, Jacuzzi bath and bespoke linen on your king-size bed. The restaurant is excellent and breakfasts are a special treat.
Luxury Lodge in Minas Gerais - 4 nights: The expansive estate of this luxurious lodge is set in a stunning Brazilian landscape of mountains, waterfalls and forests for you to explore and has a fantastic list of activities including fly-fishing, horse-riding, birding, mountaineering, hiking and canoeing.
The estate and its immediate area play host to many endemic species that can be found nowhere else in the world, including the beautiful Pyjama Frog and the self-combusting Canella di Ema plant. A scientific project proposed by the owner is now underway to catalogue the astounding ecological importance of the region which will help to protect it from development into the future. All food, drink and activities included.
Stylish Luxury Hotel in Rio - 3 nights: Being based here ourselves, we are uniquely positioned to get you closer to the residents and their culture; we are on hand to help you, from organising samba lessons, to local etiquette and where the locals go to enjoy authentic live music.
You stay in a luxury hotel on Ipanema beach, where you have our favourite room that looks out across the beach. Based in the most glamorous neighbourhood of the city, you're only walking distance from the best shops, bars and restaurants Rio has to offer.
Vitor, (a Rio local himself) will arrange a day to give you a personalised luxury city tour, showing you those details often missed by the conventional tours and stopping at an excellent local restaurant for lunch before visiting Christ the Redeemer.

Your hotel in Alagoas is small and well integrated into its surroundings using locally sourced materials for its construction wherever possible and also providing a vital revenue stream for locals in the nearby villages of this remote and secluded area. The surrounding area is used very successfully to harvest it of as much food as needed, as are the seas, with local fishermen providing their freshly caught fish to the Fazenda, still using traditional methods.
The beautiful Pyjama Frog and the self-combusting Canella di Ema plant mentioned above are just some of the amazing discoveries of this habitat. The scientific project cataloguing the many species in the region will help to protect the surrounding area from development into the future – Your experience here will therefore help to expand the hard work of the estancia and fund this important project. Your hotel in Rio employs locally sourced staff, as do we for your tours and other such excursions. Employing local people will allow you to step out of the tourist bracket, and discover much more of this city than usually possible. Equally important to us, because of how much the business and the clients gain from them is giving these staff the opportunity to earn money, improve their English and show off their home to you. They are immensely proud of their city, making them extremely good at their job, energetic and fun. Part of the cost of your holiday goes towards the planting of 20 hard wood trees in the Mata Atlantica, under the guidance of R.E.G.U.A. (Reserva Ecologica de Guapi Assu) who protect one of the last stands of primary tropical rainforest left in the severely depleted Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
