introduction to Budget holiday to Egypt

When time is short but your hunger for the wonders of antiquity is not…we take you from Cairo to Luxor and back to delight you with thousands of years of history and culture.

No trip to Egypt would be complete or fulfilling without seeing the only remaining wonder of the ancient world…the Great Pyramids of Giza. You will not only explore these ancient tombs but also visit the enigmatic Sphinx, Memphis - the first capital of ancient Egypt - and Sakkara - its expansive necropolis, the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, Coptic Cairo – including the Hanging Church and Ben Ezra Synagogue,  the Citadel of Salah el-Din and the mosque of Mohamed Ali.

Then we are off to Luxor to explore the richness of Upper Egypt by visiting the Temples of Karnak and Luxor, the Valley of the Kings and The Valley of the Queens, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. It’s a whirlwind...

Our tour price includes transfers from/to the airport, fully-guided tours in Cairo, Giza, and Luxor in air-conditioned buses, fluent English-speaking tour guides, first-class train tickets, 3-star hotels with private bath, air-conditioning, TV, and breakfast. We do not charge in advance for site entrance fees in order to add flexibility to your program as you may choose to skip one or more sites depending upon your interests.

All of our tours can start on any day and can be customized to fit your time, budget, and interests. Additional nights and optional activities (e.g. Pyramids sound & light show, Khan El-Khalily Market, oasis excursion) are available upon request. All day trips leave in small groups (maximum 9 people) and are accompanied by a professional tour guide.

traveller reviews for Budget holiday to Egypt

Most memorable was seeing the pyramids, the tombs, the Cairo Museum and the solar boat. Also seeing the countrysides and the villages in between towns. I enjoyed it all. (more)
how this holiday makes a difference
Luxor templeMake your holiday in Egypt something to always remember – but not at the expense of the environment or the local peoples. You will stay in locally-owned and operated hotels throughout this tour – not multinational chains which grossly over consume the local resources (electricity, water, and so on), waste food, and do not pay wages in any way relative to the exorbitant prices they charge their guests.

Likewise, you will have only local guides in Cairo and Luxor. All of the guides on this trip are university graduates with whom we have long-established relationships. They are all eager to share the richness of their own local traditions and culture as well as delight you with comprehensive details on the history and the role of the sites you visit.

You are on traditional public transportation whenever possible – including the national train system to travel to and from Luxor. When using private transportation the size of the vehicle is always relative to the number of people in the group; we don't use vehicles which seat more guests than are on the trip. All vehicles are locally-owned and operated. By using local accommodation, transportation, and guides, communities and native peoples derive a greater financial benefit from tourism.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
