the amazing things you'll be doing
Monuments, forts and palaces of Moghul India plus tiger spotting and the enchanting Taj Mahal.

Northern India conjures up memorable and colourful images including Agra, home to the most famous of India's monuments, the Taj Mahal. We visit Fatehpur Sikri and the 'Pink City' of Jaipur, home to the wonderful former Maharaja Palace and the splendid hilltop Amber Palace. Delhi is not to be missed, where monuments to the former Raj and narrow streets teeming with market stalls stand alongside the modern city.

In contrast to these man-made wonders we experience the enchanting wildlife of India, made famous by Kipling's Jungle Book. Bharatpur bird sanctuary is a tranquil break from the sensory overload that can be India and Ranthambore National Park, former hunting reserve of the Maharajas of Jaipur, boasts an abundance of prey animals, monkeys and bird life - a truly wonderful spectacle, especially if you see an elusive tiger.

Please note: As of 1st January 2009 all this tour will also include a visit to Varanasi!

how this holiday makes a difference
As a part of our continued commitment to responsible tourism, we operate this trip in a way that aims to reduce impacts and to give as much back as possible to the local communities.

This trip visits Ranthambore National Park. To help the long-term survival of the park and its wildlife it is vital that the people who live in the surrounding area benefit from its existence, so together with the charity Friends of Conservation we help to support a scheme, which provides healthcare and education for the local villagers, and a contribution is made for every client on the trip. The Park entry fee paid at Ranthambore is also used for the maintenance of the Park and Tiger conservation programs

Tigers on holiday to Northern IndiaWe use a locally owned operator on this trip and we have worked with our operator to help train staff in all aspects of their jobs, to help the people to help improve their knowledge and future prospects. This has included Responsible Tourism training.

We use local leaders and they will give a briefing on Responsible Tourism issues to help you understand how you can help reduce your impact and maximise the benefits to the local communities from your visit. We use local guides at all monuments and sights in Rajasthan. The accommodation is locally owned and run on this trip. The medium category, locally owned, and government approved hotels are all registered hotels in India so are legally bound to follow regulations relating to environmental issues especially with regards to the waste disposable management, water use, washing methods and use of food provisions etc. This trip is independent trip so it will be small group by its very nature and this will limit any environmental impacts.

We have at our offices worked to reduce our carbon footprint through a reduction of energy use and energy conservation measures. We also actively try to reduce the waste produced by having active reduction and recycling policies in place. We run annual staff workshops on Responsible Tourism.

Global warming is a reality and to help you make a difference by reducing the carbon dioxide that is produced when you travel we offer a chance to carbon balance your flights. We encourage all our clients to do this and do so for all our staff travel. Go on do your bit!

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
