the amazing things you'll be doing
Fiji has an abundance of natural beauty including beautiful beaches, waterfalls and colourful coral, but this country’s real wealth lies in its people; this makes Fiji an ideal destination, as our tours allow you to truly immerse yourself in the local culture.
From Nadi, on the main island, Viti Levu, we drive straight to the Coral Coast, passing by beaches, sand dunes and stopping off at a world renowned eco bird park. We spend the next day white water rafting, and travelling by open 4WD into the scenic splendour of the Namosi Highlands, before returning for another night on the beautiful Coral Coast.
We then move to Natelei eco-lodge in Tailevu, on Viti Levu’s east coast, where you will spend the next three nights, where you can choose from a wide range of activities like hiking, trekking, horse riding, diving, bird watching, waterfall visits, beach volleyball, snorkelling, and cultural activities like weaving, dancing(meke) and Fijian songs. Evenings will provide you with opportunities to sample traditional Fijian food.
Our next stop is the Nagado highlands where you will trek in the majestic highlands visiting villages, caves and waterfalls, before your community development adventure begins. We build a house for a poor farming family in conjunction with Rotary International. Rotary provides humanitarian service and helps build goodwill and peace in the world, operating in 167 countries. We build a house for a poor farming family in conjunction with Rotary International, based a short drive away from delightful Bekana Island resort.
After bidding sad farewells to our new friends, we make our way to Denarau, where your catamaran awaits! Aboard your catamaran, you will spend a total of four days in the Yasawa’s, overnighting at 2 different islands where (during the day) you can snorkel, dive, kayak, swim, or just work on your suntan while enjoying your well earned rest. Your trip ends back in Nadi, with transfers to the airport.

Every year, every staff member does a minimum of one day of giving back to the community. In 2006, we focused on one major community, the community of Koroipita. Koroipita is a township 10 minutes out of Lautoka where low income earners who have in the past been homeless, can enjoy a new house, running water, electricity, sewerage, child education and a safe environment for their families.
Up to August 2006, our staff have: Our “Build a Home in 3 Days” campaign has seen staff volunteer over a long weekend – 3 days - to build a fully cyclone proof home for a family. Our partner in Fiji also donated F$16,000.00 to provide electricity to 71 homes as well as another new home. On this trip you will spend four days volunteering at Koroipita Village, building a house for a family. This should prove to be the highlight of your trip as you get to interact meaningfully with the local community, and make a positive impact in their lives. To date, 520 volunteers have served at Koroipita, and the village hosts 160 volunteers every year. We use only local guides, such as Ronny, from the Lau group of islands in Eastern Fiji. Ronny has been working in tourism for 10 years; he has three sisters and two brothers, and he is very enthusiastic to share special parts of Fiji with you, and enlighten you with stories, legends and laughter. A minimum of 10% of our profits goes straight into funding our Community Development volunteer project partners. All costs of materials and administration are included in the trip price, and, where appropriate, we employ expert local craftsmen to handle the tricky parts of repair and renovation work. The Koroipita village is committed to recycling of all materials, and operates an innovative waste management and sewerage system. All our trips are 100% carbon neutral – meaning that even though you don’t book your flights through us, we will pay for the equivalent number of trees to be planted to cancel the CO2 emissions from the flights, and also from all tour vehicles. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
