the amazing things you'll be doing
From north to south this tour discover spectacular scenery, superb wildlife and fascinating cultures as you travel through the amazing African landscape. Magnificent herds of elephants roam the vast savannah plains, white sand and palm trees meet the deep blue sea on the Indian Ocean coast and huge clouds of spray fill the air as the mighty Zambezi crashes over Victoria Falls. With a full range of action-packed activities along the way, it's a fun adventure with rewarding wildlife encounters!
day-by-day itinerary
Week 1:Kenya/Tanzania. Depart Nairobi and cross the Great Rift Valley en route to the Masai Mara, a world-renowned reserve filled with rolling grasslands, big cats and wildebeest. Camp on the edge of the park and pursue leopards, rhinos and giraffes on game drives. Cross into Tanzania and get a glimpse into the life of the Masai on a guided walk through a local village. Transfer to 4WDs for a three day excursion past the flat topped acacia trees of Serengeti National Park, the 'cradle of mankind' Olduvai Gorge and Ngorongoro Crater for amazing wildlife viewing opportunities. We return to Arusha to explore the markets before continuing to the Indian Ocean coast.
Week 2:Zanzibar/Mikumi National Park. Drive under the shadow of Mt Kilimanjaro to the coastal city of Dar es Salaam. Jump aboard a ferry and travel to the exotic 'Spice Island', Zanzibar. Wander through the narrow alleys of Stone Town, soak up the Arabic, Indian and African atmosphere and relax on the beautiful beaches. Returning to the mainland, there's a chance to explore Mikumi National Park before continuing to Malawi.
Week 3:Lake Malawi/Zambia. Travel south along the shore of Lake Malawi stopping at various camps and exploring a local village on the way. The lake covers almost a fifth of the country and provides a livelihood for many locals. Those who rise early will be treated to the sight of fishermen in their bwatos (canoes) fishing at the break of day. Make the most of the lakeside activities and go scuba diving, snorkelling, sailing or horse riding from Kande Beach. Leaving the 'warm heart of Africa' behind, cross the border to Zambia. After a stop at the capital, Lusaka, the adventure comes to an end at Livingstone and the mighty Victoria Falls. There are plenty of adrenaline filled ways to explore the falls. Go abseiling, gorge swinging or even take a flight over its thundering waters. A dramatic finale to an awesome adventure.
small group adventure holiday
Typically you will be sharing your experiences with between 4-20 like minded travellers (depending on the trip, operator and how many others are booked on the trip) and you'll have a group leader with you. Whether you are travelling alone or with friends its good value, and a great way to meet new people! While itineraries are pre-planned there is some flexibility and you'll have plenty of privacy. This trip will appeal to travellers of all ages who enjoy meeting new people as well as seeing new places.
how this holiday makes a difference
For every passenger trip week that we operate in Africa, we plant a tree in Kenya through our support of the Woodlands 2000 trust, a local NGO. We also offer you a chance to climate balance your international flights by making a payment to C-Level, who in turn finance certified reforestation projects in Uganda. We already carbon compensate our office activities through C-Level, working with them to audit, then minimise waste, and finally to carbon compensate for the energy we do use.

We have always felt that Africans are better placed to show you Africa than we are! It is our policy to employ local guides for the duration of your trip. We purchase food in local so that money is well distributed within the regions we visit during the trip.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
