the amazing things you'll be doing
For a great overview on the southern islands of the Galapagos you can't get better than this cruising adventure.

Flying to the islands we board our boat and cruise to Bachas Beach on Santa Cruz, then onto South Plaza and Santa Fe. Next is isolated Espanola Island where we find Waved Albatrosses plus Blue-Footed and Masked Boobies, Galapagos Hawks, Darwin Finches, Sea Lions and the prehistoric looking Marine Iguanas.

On the ‘Buccaneer’ hideaway island of Floreana we'll visit Post Office Bay, a great spot for snorkelling, full of Sea Lions and colourful fish. You’ll also encounter the stately, Pink Flamingos as they wade in the shallow waters of inland lagoons. Arriving at Santa Cruz Island we'll check out the giant Galapagos Tortoises at the Charles Darwin Research Station. It's a busy itinerary but amongst all this activity you will still find time to kick back and relax sunbathe, swim and snorkel!

Price includes an English speaking naturalist guide, accommodation (hotels & cruise boat), some meals (6 breakfasts & 8 other meals) and transport (boat, bus, on foot & plane). Group size 1-16 people. This operator gives clients the option of offsetting carbon emissions on all of its holidays. In conjunction with Climate Friendly we have established an appropriate cash amount for each of our holidays, based on the type of transportation used and the distances travelled. This amount is donated to Climate Friendly and used to support new renewable energy projects that prevent greenhouse gases from entering our atmosphere. The amount required to offset this holiday is £10 - this does not include your international flight.
day-by-day itinerary
Day 1:Quito. Our trip starts today in Quito and you can can arrive at any time as no activities are planned. Take some time to explore the squares and churches of the Old Town or stop at the shops and bars in the new part of the city.
Day 2:Galapagos Cruise - Las Bachas. Our flight this morning takes us to the amazing Galapagos Islands where our cruise begins with a visit to the beautiful white sand beach of Las Bachas, a major egg-laying site for sea turtles and home to marine iguanas and flamingos.
Day 3:Plazas - Santa Fe. South Plaza is home to both marine and land iguanas, as well as swallow-tailed gulls, frigatebirds, shearwaters, brown pelicans, and blue-footed and masked boobies. On Santa Fe we take a walk through the amazing forest of prickly pear and observe iguanas. It's a great spot for swimming and we may be joined by inquisitive sea lion pups.
Day 4:Espanola. The island of Espanola is blessed with a large number of endemic creatures, including waved albatross, booby, Galapagos hawk, marine iguana, hood mockingbird and a variety of finches.
Day 5:Floreana. Once home to pirates, whalers and pioneering settlers, the island of Floreana offers an intriguing look into man's history in the Galapagos. We see pink flamingos and perhaps sea turtles nesting on the beach, as well as get a chance send some mail at Post Office Bay.
Day 6:Santa Cruz - Charles Darwin Station. This morning we disembark in the small town of Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. We visit the Charles Darwin Research Station, home to the Galapagos giant tortoise from which the islands receive their name. Travelling across the island and the turquoise waters of the Itabaca Channel, we reach Baltra where our flight takes us back to Quito for the last night of our trip.
Day 7:Quito. Our adventure comes to an end today after breakfast.
travellers' tales
Our Galapagos guide was very good, and the wildlife was fantastic. Swimming with sea lions etc, albatross pairs dancing their goodbyes, marine iguana, Galapagos Hawk, just born sea lion pup checking me out by touching my toe, slightly older sea lion pup chasing mocking birds on the beach to name but a few were fabulous. (more)

how this holiday makes a difference
The pristine Galapagos Islands are protected as a World Heritage sanctuary for good reason - they are home to a vast array of unique and endemic wildlife. To maintain its unique ecosystem, tourism to the islands is tightly controlled, with a limited number of tourists allowed daily and boats being forced to follow strict guidelines. Small, environmentally friendly vessels are used with a maximum of 16 berths, offering an intimate and enjoyable experience. Waste management is closely controlled on the boats and, when on land, physical contact with the wildlife is strictly forbidden.

The plight of the waved albatross is a moving one, as many have died as a result of longline fishing off the coast of Peru. We have given substantial financial support to various organisations to help stop the needless slaughter of these magnificent birds by ensuring that relevant international agreements are implemented that will benefit both the birds and the legal fishing industry. The nature of this trip ensures that travellers become acutely aware of the importance of conservation and also become ambassadors for the continual protection of wildlife and wilderness the world over.

We are proud to be a member of IGTOA (International Galapagos Tour Operators Association), a non-profit association of tour operators, conservation organisations and other concerned groups that are dedicated to the lasting protection of the Galapagos. This trip is focused on respecting and benefiting the local people and the environment of this country. On this trip you will be lead by an experienced local leader passionate about their country's history, heritage and natural beauty that will help you to get 'under the skin' of their country and see it through the eyes of a local. This trip stays at locally run accommodation; we eat at local restaurants and travel on local transport. This ensures the financial return to the local economy opens up training and employment opportunities - and allows for informal and meaningful interaction between our travellers and local people.

Giant Galapagos Tortoise on cruiseWe are constantly seeking new and innovative ways of neutralising our impact on the environment. We will become the first Australian adventure tour operator to offer a voluntary carbon offsetting option on the land component of all its tours, as well as the accompanying flights. Our Community Trust provides funds for local community projects and initiatives that promote responsible and sustainable tourism development in the destinations in which we operate. First and foremost, but not exclusively, the Trust supports projects and initiatives that advance education and employment within the tourism and hospitality industry. The Trust operates on a not-for-profit basis, with every cent of funds donated by us, our staff and our travellers, going to the nominated projects. The maximum group size on all of our adventures is 16 passengers – with exception of some African trips (24 max) and in the Polar Regions, where our ship carries a maximum of 110 passengers. Travelling in small groups ensures we make significantly less impact on the natural environment, as well as breaking down many of the communication barriers presented by a larger group.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
