the amazing things you'll be doing
As part of this truly unforgettable safari in Tanzania, you explore two of the world's greatest game reserves - the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater - and see the famous Olduvai Gorge and the little visited Lake Manyara National Park. This is the ultimate African trip, including game drives by 4WD vehicle, camping in both open bush and in comfortable fixed tent safari camps, and experiencing the sights and sounds of a lively market town. There is an astonishing array of wildlife to be seen including: zebra, giraffe, lion, cheetah, rhino, gazelle, leopard, elephant, wildebeest... and many more. You can round off you adventures in Tanzania with an extension to relax on the beaches of Zanzibar Island.
Lake Manyara & Serengeti
Leaving Arusha, your first destination is Manyara, a small park centred on its shallow alkaline lake. This park is renowned for elephants and tree-climbing lions; it is also a paradise for birds. The Serengeti is the classic ‘plains game’ safari destination. There is a very high probability that you will see most of Africa’s large game here – lions, elephants, buffalo…
Ngorongoro & Tarangire
The Ngorongoro Crater is a natural wonder in itself and also the scene of some of the most prolific game in Africa. The rim keeps the wildlife ‘captive’ and as a result there are good chances of seeing black rhino and leopard. The majority of Tarangire is baobab forest, a different environment, and one particularly favoured by elephant and over 550 species of bird.
Our itinerary has been designed to allow a true African safari experience by using a mix of normal camping to get you closer with tented lodges for that extra comfort. Your accommodation consists of 2 nights in a hotel, 2 nights in a tented camp and 4 nights camping. In Arusha you stay in a modern property within the municipal area of Arusha town. It has lovely gardens and a swimming pool set in five acres. The tented camps are fixed camps and the tents have shower rooms. The camping is in large canvas tents. There are ablution blocks at each campsite.
Trip price includes: 8 breakfasts, 6 lunches & 7 dinners. The hotel in Arusha will provide an evening meal on arrival and breakfast both mornings that you are there. The rest of the food will be cooked at the campsites, over open fires. The food is delicious and varied. Typically we use a Toyota Land Cruiser for every five or six passengers. There is good visibility from these vehicles for game viewing. The trip is accompanied by your expert local driver / guide.

The Arusha Children’s trust, a charity that runs projects in rural communities in the remote areas of the rift valley, seeks to improve the lives of the tribal groups that live there, without imposing western values on them. Located in a remote village outside of Arusha, a school built by our local supplier, teaches young children who would not otherwise have access to any sort of formal education, helping them develop a wider understanding of their world and provides one hot meal a day. For every traveller that books onto a selection of a Tanzania trips, we donate $5 towards the Arusha Children’s Trust.
Clients who travel with us will automatically receive a copy of our Responsible Travel leaflet. This contains details and advice on how you can make a positive difference when you travel. We work in partnership with Plan International. Plan works with some of the world’s poorest communities where three out of four children die before the age of five. We also support Friends of Conservation – an international charity committed to working with local people to develop a balance between their needs and the wildlife with which they share the natural habitat and ecosystems. Global warming is a real issue and is a direct result of your travel. We have teamed up with Climate Care to give you the opportunity to offset the carbon emissions from your flight. You’ll be asked upon booking if you want to donate – with set amounts from £5. As a company we offset the carbon emissions from all staff travel in full. We’ve highlighted a few of the ways in which we offer our support, financially or otherwise, and now you can, too. We have set up our own foundation, which will administer funds donated by you. A small donation of £1 per person will be taken when booking a holiday and that money will be put to good use by one of our carefully selected projects. If you don’t want to make the donation, just tell us when you call. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
