the amazing things you'll be doing
This 10-day trekking and climbing tour is an opportunity to not only climb one of the world’s largest volcanoes but to contribute a significant amount of money the SOS children’s charity in Quito.

A carefully planned acclimatisation program culminates in the ascent of the beautiful Volcan Cotopaxi. The tour will take you into the heart of the Ecuadorian Andes staying in a mix of eco-lodges and locally owned guesthouses along the way.

All accommodation, climbing equipment, mountain guides and transport (mix of private and local) are included in the registration fee.

The tour provides an excellent challenge to both experienced climbers and those of a sporting nature. The actual ascent of Cotopaxi is open to both those with climbing experience and those without as it is non-technical and comes with the assistance of local expert guides.

Travelling from Quito and into the Andes you will experience an awesome landscape and get a taste of Ecuadorian culture meeting locals in the markets and town along the way. On this tour you will be able to make new friends and face a great challenge as part of a group.

Whether you are travelling alone or with friends its good value, and a great way to meet new people! While itineraries are pre-planned there is some flexibility and you'll have plenty of privacy. This trip will appeal to travellers of all ages who enjoy meeting new people as well as seeing new places.
how this holiday makes a difference
From the registration fee we will give £150 directly to the SOS charity that runs orphanages in the capital, Quito. On this expedition we will be making use of local guides and services whilst staying in accommodations that make positive contributions to their local communities.

All our accommodations employ Ecuadorians fairly and have all been involved in local community projects; they have been chosen for this reason as much as for the quality and comfort that they offer. In buying locally produced goods from markets for the treks, you will also be doing your bit for the local economy.

This tour will also be a precursor to future projects between the tour operator and the SOS children’s charity.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
