the amazing things you'll be doing
From your boutique hotel overlooking one of the world´s truly iconic cities, through the largest rain forest on the planet, to your own seaside hideaway and the beaches of a lush, green, tropical island paradise.

Highlights include:
  • Treks and tours on foot and by boat
  • Experience the diverse flora and fauna
  • Guided city tour of Rio de Janeiro
  • Views from Christ the Redeemer
  • Kayak, hike and snorkel on the Costa Verde

When you arrive in Rio, you´ll be collected in arrivals and driven to your beautifully designed boutique hotel in an exclusive neighbourhood in the hills above Leblon. The hotel has wonderful spaces for you to relax in, a lovely pool and stunning views of Christ the Redeemer and Rio´s Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.

During your stay in Rio, on a morning that suites you, you´ll be collected by your guide and Rio local Geraldo who will take you on your own private tour of this fantastic city. You´ll see the beautiful architecture of Rio´s old quarter, the breathtaking views from the iconic Christ the Redeemer, and even get the chance to stop for a caipirinha at the world famous Copacabana Palace. The city has some fantastic restaurants, bars and clubs, and being based here, we are perfectly placed to give you all the right advice about how to get the most out of the wonderful place. Also, if boutique hotels aren´t your thing, we can put you up in your very own luxury, serviced penthouse with panoramic Rio views right on the beach in Ipanema.

When you arrive in Manuas on the banks of the Amazon, you´ll be met by your jungle guide and make the rest of the journey up river by boat. Set on the Rio Negro and deep in the Amazon Basin, your eco lodge is a fantastic base from which to explore this unique and awe inspiring ecosystem. Your stay at the lodge includes a full schedule of jungle and river tours which offer the perfect opportunity to go in search of some of the fantastic and incredibly diverse wildlife native to the area. You´ll explore the pristine, primary rain forest both by day and by night with your own English speaking, expert guide who´ll be on hand to ensure you really get the most out of your journey to the Amazon. Your stay at the lodge is all inclusive.

After the heat of the jungle, what better way to reflect on the experience of a lifetime than by heading to a secluded, seaside hideaway on a beautiful island off Brazil´s Costa Verde? Your rustic, boutique hotel has stunning ocean views and from the comfort of your suite you are perfectly placed to get the most out of this wonderful place. This unspoilt island paradise is covered in dense tropical rain forest and dotted with stunning waterfalls. It also has over 100 beaches, the most famous of which is often considered one of the most beautiful in the world. The 3km long Lopez Mendes beach is also one of Brazil´s top surfing destinations. Your time on the island can be spent doing one of the many activities on offer including trekking, sailing, diving and fishing. Alternatively you could head for a spa, get a massage or do nothing more than lounge in your hammock and listen to the ocean - it´s up to you.

how this holiday makes a difference
All the hotels and lodges we use are locally owned and run and we only ever uses local guides. This not only benefits the surrounding community and boosts the local economy; it also ensures that the company’s clients have a more authentic experience during their trip. Our partner lodge in the Amazon is built entirely from certified, eco friendly wood and conforms to strict environmental guidelines governing construction within the state of Amazonia. All waste products from the lodge are sent for recycling and all sewerage is biologically treated in septic tanks and never reaches the existing waterways. As with all our holidays, our sustainable tourism policy means that all the treks and tours our clients go on during their trip are conducted in small groups by local, expert guides who place huge importance on education being a key factor in the conservation and preservation of the Amazon rain forest.

Part of the Amazon leg of this trip also includes a visit to a local craft centre where clients are given the opportunity to purchase local arts & crafts – again, this has an invaluable impact on the local economy. Whilst on the Costa Verde, all the produce used in pousada´s kitchen is either grown in their own garden or purchased from local fishermen or markets. The pousada is a big contributor to the local economy and is primarily concerned with maintaining the island’s idyllic feel as well as preserving the local environment.

£20 from every holiday we sell goes to support a project run by Regua aimed at protecting and replanting the Atlantic rain forest in Rio state and supports a Rio based NGO which provides educational courses for the community of Vidigal – one of the city´s favelas.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
