the amazing things you'll be doing
Argentina’s capital is a fusion of cultural influences from a trendy metropolis, Italian cuisine & ice creams to native Indian roots, with lively handicraft markets, grand avenues & intimate shops, subtropical trees & climate, excellent shopping & nightlife. And a little further from city-life we find the largest delta of the world, Tigre with thousands of islands invaded by the waters of the Rio Parana, fluctuating with high and low water of the sea and a national reserve of Otamendi. A native Argentinean biologist or professional city guide would like to take you on a day tour to show you the best of Buenos Aires & surroundings according to your wishes
Possible day excursions and activities are:
Tigre Delta: Arrive by Tren de la Costa, or local train to Tigre for an exclusive excursion in a professional rowing boat from the rowing club, max. 2 persons. Stretch your muscles, relax away from city life, receive a rowing class, and enjoy nature with a lunch or coffee break on an island in the Tigre Delta. And as an end surprise we'll take you to the best ice cream salon of Buenos Aires & its surroundings, to be found in Tigre near the rowing club. Only at weekends.
Otamendi National Park – Costanera Sur Reserve: Visit with biologist to natural reserve of Otamendi (2 hrs by car) or Costanera (near the heart of Buenos Aires city). The Otamendi national park belongs to the Delta and Islas del Parana regions, where you can enjoy a big variety of eco-systems: the “ribereño” scrubland, the “pajonal” and the “pastizal pampeano”. The Costanera Sur reserve is the best place to watch birds and is close to the city heart. It is one of the very few urban natural reserves in Latin America. Only at weekends.
Explore on foot, by biking and/or taxi: Half or full day trips for 1-4 people can be arranged. Experience this big metropolis on foot, metro & taxi or on bike visiting fashionable Palermo, Eva Peron at Recoleta, the trendy harbour of Puerto Madero, the Costanera Sur Reserve, tango at San Telmo and/or la Boca with a private guide.
Sailing trips& navigation classes on the Rio Plata: Sailing at day or at night with full moon above the Rio de la Plata with great views of Buenos Aires. Sailing trips from 2 -8 hrs to 2 days to visit Colonia in Uruguay. Sailing and navigation classes on the Rio de la Plata with nice & entertaining crew. The Rio de la Plata is for sailers one of the most challenging rivers worldwide due to the presence of strong winds, tide currents & high waves. The yacht club is close to the domestic airport of Buenos Aires.
Culinary walking tour with shopping & "mate" in Buenos Aires:You are accompanied to the best markets for shopping for Argentinean handicrafts, combined with places of interest, sharing a "mate" (typical Argentinean herbal drink) in the traditional way and enjoying the best of the city on culinary level as intermezzi. A half day spa with specialists in a homecentre and a watsu - waterdance session in a swimming pool can be incorporated, ideal to relax, meet locals, have fun and deepen your experience of a multifaceted Buenos Aires.

Rowing in the Tigre delta with a professional rowing boat is an exclusive experience which only few foreign travelers have done before. You enjoy nature, receive comments about the ecosystem and the activity is an example of pure responsible tourism respecting nature. Your guide is a member of an Argentinean rowing club. Your transport is by professional rowing boat in which you can receive instructions and row yourself as well. On the nature excursions you are accompanied by a native biologist specialized in ecological environment and bird watching, which might lead to a deeper understanding of the ecosystems surrounding Buenos Aires and to an interesting cultural exchange. You walk through the reserve along the trails, watch the flora and birdlife with respect to nature. For the excursions outside of Buenos Aires we make use of local train connections to arrive. For lunch or dinner we will always suggest typical local restaurants. By choosing for one of these excursions and activities you directly contribute to the income of local guides active in ambiental consultancy, ecotourism and/or ecological awareness in Argentina. You support their work for a better life environment within Argentina & Latin America. You can compensate the CO2 emissions of your flights with ClimateCare, GreenSeat, or more cost and travel effective solutions. (Interested? Contact us for more information). |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
