the amazing things you'll be doing
Tibetan borderlands, heritage trails, home stays and hot springs are just some of the treasures of this unique trip. This trek takes you along the Tamang Heritage Trails through the central part of the Nepal Himalaya (in Ganesh and Langtang regions) and to the Tibetan borders. The trail passes through traditional villages where culture, and crafts have remained unchanged since settlement began.
Highlights include:Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Gosainkund and Laurabina Pass Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayumbhu Temple Family homestay and mountain villages
This is a unique trek offering the opportunity to lodge with locals in a family home stay. This allows a superb opportunity to really experience the way of life in these remote villages. We trek to Gatlang where we can relax by Parvati Kund, the first of the sacred lakes we will visit.
We then climb to Tatopani where we can bathe in the hot spring waters. The trail then heads east towards the Bhote Koshi valley across a very picturesque trail with great viewing points to see the mountains. Once we meet the Bhote Kosi we then descend to the river and cross over to Briddim. Here we lodge at an award winning family home stay. We then climb to visit Gosainkund Lakes, revered sacred by Hindu’s. An ancient tale tells how the lakes were believed to be formed by Shiva and his consort Parvati.
A descent to the trail end allows us to meet our transport and return to Kathmandu. This is the only trek that provides family home stay accommodation and allows you to explore the remote people and culture of the Tamang and Tibetan borderland area.
You can depend on our experience and professional expertise. Our Directors have a combination of Travel Industry, Charity and Global Corporate backgrounds. We are able to combine these skills to create a highly professional and experienced team.
Equally, we take our responsibilities seriously when looking after you in the mountains. The trekking staff have all been working in the industry for between 7 to 15+ years. Our Group Leaders attend professional training for Mountain Leadership and Mountain Safety & first aid training provided by KEEP (Kathmandu Environmental Education Project). The assistant Sherpa staff receive training in English language and eco-trekking.
Price details: Included are carbon balancing, 3 nights city B&B, 12 nights teahouse/homestay, 1 day guided sightseeing, transport and entrance fees in Kathmandu, transportation as per the itinerary, porterage and guide fees, National Park entrance fees and charity donation. Not included are international flights, meals other than those specified on the itinerary, personal expenses, staff tips, US $30 visa, additional sightseeing and travel insurance.

small group adventure holiday
Typically you will be sharing your experiences with between 4-20 like minded travellers (depending on the trip, operator and how many others are booked on the trip) and you'll have a group leader with you. Whether you are travelling alone or with friends its good value, and a great way to meet new people! While itineraries are pre-planned there is some flexibility and you'll have plenty of privacy. This trip will appeal to travellers of all ages who enjoy meeting new people as well as seeing new places.how this holiday makes a difference
|
All our holidays have the same core 5 values:
In addition, on all our trekking holidays free filtered water is provided to customers to ensure minimal environmental impact of use of firewood to boil water or plastic bottles which can not be re-cycled. We issue all clients with a rubbish bag - all waste items are collected in the bag and removed from the mountains so that they can be disposed of safely and responsibly. Where there is a choice we will only use teahouses that use renewable energy fuel stoves and water heating systems such as biogas and solar energy. This trip brings economic benefit to the local Tamang people by using family homestays with those who otherwise live a very deprived lifestyle. We are working with local organisations to provide local training to ensure the "value of heritage" is understood by the local people and this is kept intact and maintained as visitor numbers increased. Our group leaders attend professional training for Mountain Leadership and Mountain Safety & first aid training provided by KEEP (Kathmandu Environmental Education Project is a registered non-governmental organisation, working to support sustainable tourism in Nepal). We pride ourselves on paying wages higher than commercial organisations and limit the loads that our porter staffs carry. Equally the assistant Sherpa staff receive training in English language and eco-trekking. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
