introduction to Everest base camp trekking tour
When it comes to spectacular breathtaking mountain panoramas, the Everest base camp and Kala Pattar Trek is without equal, if you like to walk, this is one of the most inspiring places in the world to do it.
After exploring the temples, shrines and restaurants of Kathmandu we take an exciting mountain flight to Lukla, the gateway to Everest region. The walk to Everest Base Camp from Lukla takes you through lush valleys with abundant flora and fauna, past friendly Sherpa villages and Buddhist monasteries, and far above the tree line towards the earth’s highest mountains. Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse and Mt. Everest tower above you on this demanding but very rewarding trek.
While passing Buddhist monasteries views of Everest get closer every day. Acclimatizing is very important therefore we will have rest days in the villages of Namche and Dingboche that will allow us to explore the region and acclimatize. This stunning trek visits both base camp and Kala Patar (5555m), a viewpoint recognised as the best vantage point to see Mount Everest which is a premier goal for many adventurous walkers in the Himalaya. After trekking to Kalapattar we return at our leisurely pace back to Namche and Lukla for our return flight to Kathmandu.
For the more adventurous trekkers you have the option of returning over the Cho La pass to the Gokyo valley, and then ascending Gokyo Ri. Or if you are really fit, you can attempt the summit of Island Peak.

Not only can participants enjoy the magnificent scenery of the stunning Everest range, they can also rest assured the trip is operated to the highest responsible environmental standards. Before we leave for our Everest base camp tour our guide will brief group members on the importance of conservation in the environment as part of our responsible tourism efforts.
All our guides are English speaking and have years of experience as they lived locally, displaying a wealth of knowledge in the Everest Region with local people and customs. Each guide comes fully equipped and supported by us, having obtained the training in the related tourism sectors including Ministry of Tourism in Nepal, High Altitude First Aid and environmental issues for Nepal. The hotel in Kathmandu has notices in the bathrooms about saving water and towel usage. These lodges minimize the impact on the environment by boiling all drinking water instead of using bottled water, use kerosene/gas fuel instead of fire wood and disposing of their rubbish appropriately. Along this trek we use stainless mugs for tea and coffee to reduce paper wastage. We protect natural aspects and avoid creating new trails across switchbacks, fields and in high fragile areas. We choose our transportation suppliers on a rotational basis and use different ones in each area to ensure that the money we bring in is distributed evenly throughout the community. All local vehicles used for transportation are serviced frequently in addition we fully comply with Government Road Worthy standards. This ensures minimal gas emissions are lost from our vehicles, poorly maintained or malfunctioning vehicles can release as much as 10 times the emissions of a well-maintained vehicle. We are dedicated to giving something back to the local community the Sambhav Nepal Foundation is a registered Nepalese charity we are associated with. With the foundation our aim is to offer English medium schooling and health services for a remote isolated region of Gorkha. We understand and appreciate the hard work the guides and porters perform. Therefore we treat and obey the following Guide and Porter Policy to ensure the conditions for our guides and porters are of a humane standard. We work towards eliminating avoidable illness, injury and death. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
