the amazing things you'll be doing
A trek to the Langtang valley has to be one of the most rewarding of the short treks available anywhere in Nepal.

The east-west running valley is the site of some stunning alpine scenery and a great place to meet unique people.

Highlights
  • Kathmandu city tour
  • Scenic road drive from and to Kathmandu.
  • Visiting Langtang village & Kyangjin Gompa
  • Panoramic view of mountain from top of the Kyangjin Ri

A minimum of one week is required but trekkers are well advised to add a few extra days for acclimatization and for side trips in the valley. Along our journey you will walk through Langtang National Park. Although wildlife is never easy to spot in a forest setting, here you get the chance to see some interesting animals and birds. Among those found in the park are monkeys, musk deer, Pika and the national bird of Nepal, the colorful danphe. The trek is best started either from Dhunche or from Syabrubesi.

how this holiday makes a difference
Responsible tourism is imperative as it becomes a responsibility of each and every individual in the tourism industry as sustainability of the industry depends on this significant factor. Before our Langtang Valley Trek commences our guide will brief group members on the importance of conservation in the environment as part of our responsible tourism efforts.

We ensure that our operations in the Langtang Region does not disrupt or lead to the displacement of any local people, we ensure that our style and scale of tourism is appropriate to local conditions and operate within the limits. We sub-contracts all support activities like transportation and lodging on a rotational basis so that the money gets spread evenly within the community. All local vehicles used for transportation are serviced frequently in addition we fully comply with Government road worthy standards.

All our staff are from local communities. Our guides are English speaking with years of experience and knowledge when it comes to mountains, local people and customs within the Langtang Valley Trek. Each guide comes fully equipped and supported by us, having obtained training in the related tourism sectors including Ministry of Tourism in Nepal, High Altitude First Aid and Environmental issues for Nepal.

The hotel in Kathmandu has notices in the bathrooms about saving water and towel usage. In the local teahouses the accommodation is very basic but adheres to eco friendly methods of operation including minimizing the use of non-bio degradable products. Basic precautions like switching off electricity when not in use or required. Organic vegetables, fruits and consumables are sourced from the local communities, this helps to contribute money into the local village economies.

We are dedicated to giving something back to the local community the Sambhav Nepal Foundation is a registered Nepalese charity that we are associated with the foundation our aim is to offer English medium schooling and health services for a remote isolated region of Gorkha.

We understand and appreciate the hard work the guides and porters perform. Therefore we treat and obey the following Guide & Porter Policy to ensure the conditions for our guides and porters are of a humane standard. We work towards eliminating avoidable illness, injury and death.
  • All our guides and porters receive medical care when ill or injured.
  • We provide basic accommodation for our guides and porters or tent with sleeping gear, and they are provided food and warm drinks.
  • We have insurance policies for each of our employees.

  • We never overload our porters, for us it’s not all about making money we strive on being able to employ local people; we respect and treat each and every one of our employees with the utmost respect.
  • Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
