the amazing things you'll be doing
Our Andalusian guest house offers bed and breakfast holiday accommodation in Spain in the Sierra Nevada on the footpath GR7.

We offer hiking, birdwatching, trekking and mountain biking holidays with self catering or bed and breakfast accommodation in beautiful unspoilt countryside which is easily accessible from the airports of Granada, Almeria and Malaga, and close to fantastic skiing and horse riding. The village of Mairena, known as the 'balcony' of the Alpujarras, has splendid views down to the typical whitewashed villages of the area and to the Mediterranean beyond.

This is very possibly one of the most stunning undiscovered areas of Spain where life continues much as it has done for hundreds of years since the Moors first farmed their terraces of almonds, olives and vegetables.

We have lived in Spain for many years and our knowledge of the language, history and culture of the area, combined with a love of the outdoor life, means we are in an ideal position to help you craft your perfect holiday. For those who prefer complete independence, self guided route notes and maps are available.

Alternatively, we have a menu of activities which allows you to choose from a list of exciting adventures including exploring the peaks of the Sierra, 15km mountain bike descents, horse riding and husky sled riding. Depending on your mood and energies we also offer short courses which include stained glass making, painting and an introduction to yoga and reflexology. For keen walkers there is also the option of a four base holiday in which you walk from village to village along the ancient Caminos Reales, staying in traditional hotels along the way, with full vehicle support and baggage transfers.

Self catering accommodation - Prices:

La Casita – €90/night, €400/week 2 en-suite double rooms (sleeps 4)
El Corral – €70/night, €320/week 1 double room (sleeps 2)
La Azotea – €65/night, €300/week 1 double room (sleeps 2)

how this holiday makes a difference
Having restored the guest house using local builders we now work within the community giving employment to people from the village for taxi service, for cooking, cleaning, irrigating and gardening.

Sun terrace at Alpujarra B&B and cottages, GranadaWe have worked together to show the benefits of recycling, saving water and energy, as well as making the benefits of organic farming a local topic by leading by example on our own farm. Working as Deputy mayor, David’s voice has been heard even more forcibly in local meetings working for change.

Wherever possible we try to shop locally as well as encouraging guests to buy local products such as jams, air dried hams, local crafts etc.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
