the amazing things you'll be doing
This adventure surpasses any experience in skydiving so far.
Since 1991 the skydiving and BASE jumping communities have landed onto both the North and South Poles, and BASE jumped Angel Falls, Venezuela – fabulous and awe inspiring adventures in their own right, and as such they were the historic building blocks for this new and exciting challenge. The Mount Everest (29,035ft) Skydive pushes the boundaries harder and higher, for this is a challenge taking skydiving into two harsh and extreme environments – high altitude at 29,500ft plus extreme cold.
The jump dates in Nepal avoid the 200mph jet stream that roars across Everest’s summit, and the Drop Zone (DZ) is the highest in the world at 12,350ft.
Combine the visual impact of looking onto the summit of Mt. Everest and some of the other highest mountains in the world and freefalling past them, this adventure is a feast for those who seek to stimulate all their senses to the point of near overload.
Everest Skydive draws upon the knowledge and skills of an unusual group of skydivers, some of who are also Everest mountaineers. By drawing on detailed knowledge of the geographical area of Mt. Everest, the surrounding Sherpa lands, and skills learnt in both disciplines the adventure has been brought to fruition after two years of meticulous planning and preparation. The first Everest Skydive season is to be filmed by Leo Dickinson for distribution worldwide and will include the worlds highest ever tandem charity jump to raise funds for Global Angels.
Everest Tandem Skydive - £16870 (15 days) ex flights As a Tandem skydiver join the skydiving fraternity in the international record books by being part of the most fabulous skydiving adventure in the world. Parachute as a passenger (Tandem Skydive) with some of the world's most experienced tandem masters in front of Mt Everest (29,035ft). Tandem skydiving does not require any previous parachuting experience and this skydive is undoubtedly the top tandem jump in the world! Combine the visual impact of leaving the aircraft at 29,500ft attached to your tandem master, while looking onto the summit of Mt. Everest and some of the other highest mountains in the world while freefalling past them.

Everest Skydive Observers and Companions - £3750 (15 days) ex flights Join the international skydiving fraternity in this exciting world class adventure as an observer. Be part of all the action on the ground. Be there to see the adventure unfold and witness the action in the air and on the ground. Observe the skydivers and tandem jumpers preparations and be on the drop zone as they land. Watch air to ground images from the jump aircraft as they exit from 29,500ft into freefall. There is also the chance to make a scenic flight in the jump aircraft should timings and weather allow. This is a chance for non skydiving friends and family to join in, and have the most fabulous time as well.
Everest Skydive 10 Day Gokyo Lakes Extension - £599 (10 days) ex flights So you have made your skydive and seen Mt. Everest from above. So why not see it from below? Add ten days to your itinerary and see the mountain from "Above and Below". The Khumbu and Gokyo valleys are considered to be the most breath taking of the Solu Khumbu and Everest region, and you will have already seen a part of "lower Solu Khumbu" on the acclimatisation phase. Why not continue to explore the upper reaches of the region ~ the Sherpa villages, their monasteries and the fabulous mountain scenery from a more earth bound perspective. Simply breathtaking, and the culmination of one of the world's greatest adventures.

how this holiday makes a difference
|
Everest Skydive has been planned with the approval of the Sherpa and Tamang people who live in Solu Khumbu. Nigel Gifford (our company's founder) went there to ask them if they felt that skydiving was an appropriate activity, and was not an offence to their culture or spirituality. They loved the idea of people from all over the world coming to visit their mountains in such away, and thought that Guru Rimpoche (who leapt over the Himalayas from Tibet to settle in Tengboche, would be much amused to have people follow him!)
The area that Everest Skydive is based is near to Namche Bazar, and this area had seen a down turn in tourism from foreigners due to the political unrest, now happily something of the past. If you are part of this adventure as a skydiver, tandem passenger or a companion or observer you will be supporting the store keepers, the lodges, local guides, and yak herders of the area. Everest Skydive uses the existing infrastructure and facilities in Solu Khumbu and does not increase the environmental impact in the area Further, our company is known for "Fair Travel Trading" and adheres to the principles of Green Globe 21 for which Nigel Gifford, OBE, FRGS and Founder, is the advisor on adventure travel, worldwide. As a company, we support a variety of charities that strive for better conditions for porters and trekking staff in the Indian sub continent and the protection of indigenous peoples in remote and fragile places such as rainforests and the sub polar regions. We also help finance an education programme for Tamangs in Nepal, as well as sponsoring individuals for the Sherpa training programme. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
