the amazing things you'll be doing
Marco Polo described Sri Lanka as “undoubtedly the finest island of its size in the world” and we believe few modern-day visitors would disagree.
Not only does Sri Lanka have a rich cultural heritage and no less than 7 UNESCO designated World Heritage sites, but the geography too is a marvellous combination of coastal plain, long sandy beaches, dramatic hill country and mountains. This in turn supports an exciting range of plant life and animals, which are some of the most unusual and varied to be found anywhere.
We offer a complete tailor made service allowing you to decide when you go, where you stay and what to do. We can arrange holidays without flights, please note as a UK based company we are only able to help with flight arrangements from the UK.
This suggested tour includes the services of your own private driver/guide.

|
During this trip you will spend 3 nights at the Kandalama Hotel, which demonstrates the virtues of optimal use of natural resources, waste reduction and recycling. The sewerage treatment plant demonstrates the aeration process in which all liquid effluent is aerated. The water after digestion is released for irrigation. Sediment sludge is sun dried and added to compost pits. The hotel has a complete energy conservation policy with power cut-off switches, low energy lighting (CFL’s), photoactive garden lights and solar power hot water systems.
The hotel is managed with a view to social and cultural development of the people in the area. It liaises with thirty-nine schools for awareness building on environment conservation. Financial and other forms of assistance for the improvement of physical and social infrastructure of the community are also facilitated. The hotel adopts a comprehensive water conservation policy where no surface water is utilized for hotel use. Water is obtained from 150-200 ft. deep tube wells and a maze of gutters collects rainwater. All purchases to the hotel comply with an environmentally sensitive purchasing policy, where suppliers are screened to obtain products with minimum environmental impact. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
