day-by-day itinerary
Day 1:Arrival day. Put bikes together or head to the hire shop to pick up your wheels! Some time to test your gear before the fun starts tomorrow...
Day 2:Easing in. Right from the doorstep, we'll give you a taste of what is to come during the rest of the week. Our route takes us down the unmissable 'route des gorges', high above the limestone canyon of the Ardèche river.
Day 3:Les Vans. An early climb and long descent take us onto the Chazessac plain before tackling the ascent to Thines. Quiet roads, incredible scenery.
Day 4:Rhone Vista. Today we cross the Ardeche and up onto the plateau at St Remeze. Our circuit is part of the Internaional Tour d'Ardèche and looks over the cliffs to the distant Rhone valley.
Day 5:Free day. Giving you a chance to head out with the maps or to take in some of the other regional delights and activities. The canoe descent of the river is highly recommended if you choose a day out of the saddle.
Day 6:Mont Ventoux. One of the most famous ascents in France. We drive to the start of the iconic cone which ascends from 290m up to the 1912m peak over the course of 23 gruelling kilometres.
Day 7:Group choice. With hundreds and hundreds of miles of Ardèche left to experience - what did you like most so far? We will have plenty more of it in store for you...
Day 8:Departure day. Travel and transfers - see you next year!
travellers' tales
Extremely good. We would love to visit the gites again, maybe with the whole family in tow! (more)
how this holiday makes a difference
This trip is run in conjunction with individually selected local businesses, giving you the chance to experience and contribute to the local economy and environment. We are always mindful of local guidelines and traditions whilst planning routes. Our trained staff are knowledgeable of the culture and history of the region and are only too happy to share this information and answer your questions.

Our cycling itineraries are carefully planned in order to allow you to be involved with the local community. As well as picking the best routes to take you off the beaten track and see the real, authentic Ardèche, we ensure that you arrive in local towns and villages to witness the markets and fetes that are so important in keeping the economy and local spirit alive.

All accommodations that we use are locally run and locally supplied. We ensure that recycling and energy saving measures are in place and that opportunities to learn more of the local history and traditions are made available.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
