the amazing things you'll be doing
11 days experiencing Argentina in luxury

Stunning Luxury Estancia in the Pampas (4 nights): Set in the aristocratic heartland of Argentina this working cattle and polo Estancia was once owned by the State Governor in the 1820’s. Its current French owner and Spanish-Argentine wife, whose attention to detail and extensive travels have infiltrated this aristocratic home, and have done nothing to compromise its authenticity or its superb comfort or service.

There are just 5 guestrooms, each a short walk from the house which are individually furnished. The service is fantastic and the food excellent, a tasty traditional fare with a French influence.

Activities available include horse riding and polo with a local polo ground nearby offering lessons for beginners and games for the experienced. There is also a solarium and swimming pool and massages available should you tire of exploring the 400 acres of parkland

Full luxury Estancia, Corrientes (4 nights:) The Esteros del Iberá are one of Argentina’s hidden secrets, a vast swathe of wetlands teeming with abundant animal life. This Estancia originally, built in the 18th Century, is part of a conservation project to protect the area with a resident biologist monitoring the area and the vast estate allowed to grow wild (apart from the immaculate gardens immediately surrounding the buildings).

The refurbishment of the estancia has been done with a remarkable attention to detail incorporating beautiful antiques and original prints and paintings. The excellent meals (hearty country food with a contemporary edge) are prepared with fresh organic produce from the estancia’s large garden.

Activities here depend on your individual needs but can include trips to the local lagoon (which you navigate by speedboat, stopping for a barbecue at sunset), light aircraft flights across the wetlands and trips across the savannah with an Argentine gaucho on one of the 12 beautiful Criollo horses. The light aircraft remains at the Estancia during your stay and is available for further flights to another two Estancias in this area.

Stylish Boutique Hotel in Buenos Aires (2 nights): The city of Buenos Aires, European in appearance but with a real South American feel, is a joy to explore - its well preserved historic districts coupled with an excellent nightlife and a relaxed café culture.

You will have our extensively researched recommendations on the best restaurants bars and nightclubs. You stay in a boutique designer hotel in the chic tree lined streets of the Palermo Viejo district where all the best bars, restaurants and shopping is to be found.

Our experienced guide Diana will join you for a custom made tour of the city based on your requirements, making sure that everything is done at your pace including all the important sights as well as some little known, fantastic places off the beaten track.

how this holiday makes a difference
The Estancia in Corrientes has converted 12000 hectares of former cattle ranch into a nature reserve and implementing conservation projects from oversees, ensuring this increasingly threatened wetland habitat is around for future generations to enjoy. Staying here and going on excursions in the wetlands allows guests to gain a good understanding of the local ecosystem and an appreciation for the importance of wetlands and savannah landscapes. All meals are prepared with organic vegetables and free range meat.

In Beunos Aires, as with all of our tours and expeditions, we use locally sourced guides and drivers, such as Diana in Buenos Aires. This provides you with the ideal person with which to learn about the city whilst learning about the Argentineans in person. This in turn gives us another chance to support the local economy, whilst allowing our local guides the chance to broaden their horizons, improve their English and share with you their marvelous city.

Part of the cost of your holiday goes towards the planting of 20 hard wood trees in the Mata Atlantica, under the guidance of R.E.G.U.A. (Reserva Ecologica de Guapi Assu) who protect one of the last stands of primary tropical rainforest left in the severely depleted Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
