how this holiday makes a difference
Professor Barry Kemp has been working in Amarna Middle Egypt for the 20 years, through which a lot of excavation and restoration work of these precious unique sites that date as early as 1400 BC date back to. This tour is planned to support and raise funds for the work of the Amarna Trust, which promotes archaeological excavation, conservation and research on the Amarna Period.

The tour will visit some of Egypt’s forgotten sites, off the beaten track of regular tourists mainly the city of El Minya, which is known as the 'Bride of Upper Egypt' for linking Lower Egypt and Upper Egypt, and lies about 153 miles -240 KMS south of Cairo. Even though El Minya lies typically in between several areas of mass tourist attraction yet it is rarely included in most of the program tours which has negatively influenced the locals in the tourism sector. The log and the pictures of the trip will be used to encourage travellers to visit this forgotten part of Egypt.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
