the amazing things you'll be doing
Dotted with small, character-filled villages, smouldering volcanoes rising out of lush rich fields, idyllic beaches and colourful reefs, Bali is the perfect island getaway. Enjoy a moment of absolute peace in Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, a Hindu-Buddhist lake temple dedicated to the Goddess of the Waters, feast on delicious Balinese cuisine, explore an underwater Eden in Bali Barat National Park and conquer the slopes of simmering Mt Batur. Fall in love with the warmth of the people, ornate customs and welcoming culture that is synonymous with beautiful Bali.
day-by-day itinerary
| Days 1-2: | Ubud. Bali's largest Hindu town is also its artistic and cultural heart. There is plenty of free time to browse the many craft shops, meet monkeys in their forest sanctuary or, for the more adventurous, go white-water rafting. Enjoy a Balinese cultural performance in the evening. |
| Day 3: | Sidemen. Take to the backstreets of Ubud and beyond by bicycle. Stop and admire some of the intricately carved temples along the way. Afterwards, head to the hills and the peaceful, scenic village of Sidemen, set against the backdrop of Bali's highest peak, Mt Agung. This friendly village is a great place to chill out and meet the locals. |
| Day 4: | Mt Batur. Learn the art of songket weaving at a local workshop before enjoying a traditional bungkus (take-away) lunch. Trek into the mountains afterwards for wonderful views of Bali's volcanic landscape and maybe a refreshing dip in the river. |
| Day 5: | Banyupoh. Rise early and venture out into the cool, eerie darkness to climb Mt Batur. From the summit, take in the spectacular sunrise and perhaps have eggs for breakfast, cooked over the volcano's sulphuric vents. For a sea change, head down to the coast for a day of snorkelling or scuba diving among some of Bali's impressive reefs in the Bali Barat National Park. |
| Days 6-7: | Lovina. The beachside fishing village of Lovina is a great base for exploring the north coast of Bali. Take the chance to head out on outrigger boats to view dolphins. Spend a day exploring local villages and markets. |
| Days 8-9: | Ubud. Admire one of Bali's most beautiful temples, Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, situated in the centre of a glassy lake, before travelling back to Ubud. Pick up some last-minute souvenirs or enjoy a final Balinese banquet before bidding the island goodbye. |

how this holiday makes a difference
|
We have been an established tour operator in Bali for over 10 years and our fabulous local leaders have forged long standing and close relationships with many Balinese people. Due to the continued relationship many of our local friends invite us into their homes to share in a traditional Balinese feast, not only providing additional income for the respective families, but giving you a truly unique insight into Balinese culinary delights and importantly, Balinese familial culture.
During this trip, we stay in small locally owned accommodation to help provide increased income to the local economy and step by step we have been working with our local friends to improve environmental awareness. We are very proud as a company to see our Balinese friends grow with our business. Dewa Ketut, our transport man in Bali is a great example of this. Through our relationship with Dewa he has been able to develop his business from one leased minivan, to his personal fleet of 5 new minivans, and with continued support he now employs a staff of 5. Our support of the local culture and peoples of Bali spreads it wings over many spectacular destinations. We choose local guides from various villages to help them develop their guiding and English skills, to watch their confidence grow as they mature their talents is truly rewarding. We encourage passengers to assist in the preservation of regional traditions such as the Genyek dance, Megi Bung feasting, and songket weaving. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
