the amazing things you'll be doing
Experience the true spirit of the Kimberley - from the saltwater Bardi culture, pristine beaches and rugged red cliffs of Cape Leveque to the Indigenous Bunuba culture, cattle country and picturesque gorges of the West Kimberley. This trip is like no other in the Kimberley as it explores both the well-known sights and some of the hidden secrets of this extraordinary, remote part of Australia.
day-by-day itinerary
Day 1-2:Kelk Creek/Cape Leveque. After an early start in Broome, head to the Dampier peninsula to visit traditional Aboriginal communities and learn about their way of life. After chilling out on the pristine beaches, move on to the stunning beaches of Cape Leveque, where we'll set up camp for the night.
Day 3:One Arm Point/Lombadina. After breakfast we journey to the One Arm Point Community, perched on the tip of the Dampier Peninsula. At the Buccaneer Archipelago witness the huge tidal flows of the Kimberley. Explore the laid-back Lombadina Community then return to Broome to spend the night.
Day 4:Windjana Gorge. Travel onto the mighty Fitzroy River and visit some of the local Aboriginal Wandjina artists at Mowanjum Arts and Cultural Centre. Travelling on up the Gibb River Road, head for the Napier Ranges. Enjoy lunch at Windjana Gorge, before an afternoon trek to explore the natural scenery and abundance of local wildlife and watch the sunset over the gorge.
Day 5-6:Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungle Ranges). Be astonished by the huge China Wall quartz vein in the former gold rush town of Halls Creek. Explore the Bungle Bungle Ranges' striped 'beehive' domes that took 20 million years to form. Splash out on a scenic flight for a bird's eye view of the area or just settle into this extraordinary land with a glass of wine and a night under the stars. Rise early to marvel at Echidna Chasm's towering palm trees, walk to Cathedral Gorge and act natural in its rocky amphitheatre. After a cool waterfall shower, enjoy a leisurely campfire dinner on the last night in Purnululu National Park.
Day 7:Geikie Gorge/Broome. Picnic in Geikie Gorge before a park ranger heads a river cruise. Gliding through the gorge spotting crocodiles, birds and fish is a great way to cap off a wondrous week, before heading back to Broome.

how this holiday makes a difference
In Australia we are committed to preserving the fragile desert environment and are well versed in ways of minimising the impact of activities such as driving through remote areas and camping in the bush.

During our trip, our group leaders take active steps to ensure our groups behave in an environmentally responsible manner, such as sticking to established trails, not leaving anything behind and not removing any plants. They are also always eager to share information about their country and culture. We spend the day with our local Bunuba guide for an insight into the regions indigenous river culture. We also meet the Lombadina community, a beautiful and welcoming community, which is home to a local craft shop and interesting bush timber church.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
