the amazing things you'll be doing
With less than 50 miles between piste and swell, this week-long adventure is for those who really want to make the most of this area of Spain. Combining skiing/snowboarding with surfing, you will be taken from the heights of the breath-taking Cantabrian mountains to a dramatic coastline dotted with endless beaches, coves and fishing villages.

Complete beginners will learn to surf and ski in the same week with 6 hours of quality tuition for each activity from qualified, English-speaking instructors. Intermediates will benefit equally from the classes and will be able to improve their skills in a natural playground unique to this area of Europe.

For advanced skiers or surfers the opportunities to practice your skills are open and endless. Go off-piste at the little-known and un-crowded ski station of Alto Campoo and perfect your wave riding at the world class breaks of Liencres and Los Locos.

Wake up to views of the surf from your private balcony of the luxury 4-star hotel that will be your base for the week. A hearty breakfast and tasty dinner are included and served daily in the welcoming hotel restaurant. You can also take advantage of the luxury facilities including pool, Jacuzzi, Turkish bath and sauna.

As well as surfing and skiing we’ll take time out to explore the hidden corners of Cantabria, visiting historic villages, sampling the delicious local cuisine and bar-hopping in Santander. This adventure guarantees a dynamic, unique experience in one of the most stunning areas of Europe.

how this holiday makes a difference
To surf is to be at one with nature. Without the natural environment there would be no surfing. We take this fact very seriously and ensure that, throughout the holiday, we have as little negative impact on the environment as possible. During your adventure we'll take in a wide range of what Northern Spain has to offer; spectacular scenery, breathtaking coastline and pristine mountains. We want to ensure it stays that way. We achieve this by practicing low-impact and sustainable travel. We take only small groups of up to 8 people in one vehicle - this ensures the area is kept free of mass tourism and that we don't ever "overrun" a place. We want to blend in, not stick out and encourage interaction with local people.

All our accommodation is booked directly with the establishment owners, all of whom are local to the area and rely on bookings like ours to survive. We eat in specially selected local restaurants and bars ensuring that our spendings go directly to the community, thus supporting a small rural infrastructure as much as we can.

We offset all of our carbon emissions with Rainforest Concern, an NPO that helps protect endangered forest, its animals and peoples, primarily in South and Central America.

Our surf materials are environmentally friendly; we use extremely durable epoxy surf boards in an effort to avoid having to replace broken boards with toxic fibreglass ones and use Terrawax - a unique, non-toxic, non-petrol based, biodegradable surf wax. We also promote ferry travel to us in favour of air travel through an exclusive agreement with Brittany Ferries in an effort to reduce carbon emissions. We promote the importance of recycling and water-saving to all of our clients.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
