Espelho Beach, Trancoso – 6 nights: This is the place to get away from it all and enjoy beach life. Perched on a bluff overlooking the warm blue waters, of what is widely regarded as one of Brazil’s best beaches, this converted farmhouse enjoys stunning views in a beautiful, tropical setting.
This is genuine Bahia and you will have a beach buggy at your disposal allowing you to explore dirt roads that lead to villages further down the coast where you can see more of the coastal Brazilian life and find some excellent restaurants in secluded bays selling fresh seafood.
Rio de Janeiro – 4 nights: Set against a stunning backdrop of mountains, lagoons and beaches, Rio is a place to both relax and enjoy the pleasures of city life. Being based here ourselves, we are uniquely positioned to get you closer to the residents and their culture; we are on hand to help you, from organising samba lessons and speedboat trips, to explaining local etiquette and where the locals go to enjoy authentic live music.
You stay in our favourite suite in a luxury hotel on Leblon beach, the most glamorous neighbourhood of the city, only walking distance from the best shops, bars and restaurants Rio has to offer.

Your hotel in Rio employs locally sourced staff, as do we for your tours and other such excursions. Employing local people will allow you to step out of the tourist bracket, and discover much more of this city than usually possible. Equally important to us, because of how much the business and the clients gain from them is giving these staff the opportunity to earn money, improve their English and show off their home to you. They are immensely proud of their city, making them extremely good at their job, energetic and fun.
All food and materials in Espelho, Trancoso are sourced from the village where possible, the pousada being a valuable customer to these locals. The fish for dinner will have been caught by fishermen earlier that day and vegetables come from local gardens. Part of the cost of your holiday goes towards the planting of 20 hard wood trees in the Mata Atlantica, under the guidance of R.E.G.U.A. (Reserva Ecologica de Guapi Assu) who protect one of the last stands of primary tropical rainforest left in the severely depleted Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil. |
