introduction to Gulet cruise holidays in Turkey
We welcome you on board! We are a Dutch tour operator with an exclusive travel agency in the UK, that organizes all-inclusive sailing cruises along the Turkish Aegean coast, with a few cruises also including visits to some Greek islands.
This area enjoys a blend that is wholly unique: spectacular landscapes, a fascinating history and all this combined with superb sailing opportunities. Besides enjoying the natural and cultural beauty of the area, a Ventus sailing cruise is all about offering you the ultimate leisure cruise. Simply bask in the sun while getting away from all the routines at home, sample delicious Turkish dishes, visit historic places and above all enjoy the tranquil sailing along the fabulous Turkish coastline. It’s no secret that holidaying aboard a real Turkish gulet is one of the most relaxing ways to spend your vacation time.
They vary in size and can accommodate between 8 and 16 people. Guests can help with the sailing if they wish – or laze in the sun and leave it entirely to the crew. The daily itinerary is agreed between the captain and guests. It normally involves a leisurely sail after breakfast, lunch and siesta in a secluded bay, an afternoon sail or motor to settle for the night in a sheltered bay or in an ancient harbour.
Private charter or Cabin charter?
Our yachts are suitable for people of all ages, nationalities, including families with (young) children, couples, singles and groups of friends. You can opt for private charter or cabin charter.

Our yachts are suitable for people of all ages, nationalities, including families with (young) children, couples, singles and groups of friends. You can opt for private charter or cabin charter.
Private charter: you may choose to hire your own gulet with a group of friends or families, colleagues or business partners. This is ideal on the occasion of a special celebration or simply when you would like to have the yacht all to yourself. Cabin charter: when booking on your own or together with your partner or friend(s) you may wish to rent a cabin on any of our yachts, meet your fellow shipmates on board and perhaps make some new friends. We know, however, how important the composition of a group can be. Therefore, we do pay close attention to the composition. For certain groups we also organize theme cruises, e.g. kids’ cruises and single cruises.
All Gulets feature:
Windsurfer and canoe, GPS, deep sounder, fish finder, CD stereo music system, deep freeze, all regulation safety equipment, snorkeling and fishing gear, full sailing equipment and air conditioning in the salon and cabins!
All Inclusive Food & Drinks:
When it comes to food you are up for a feast in Turkey and Greece. Turkish and Greek cuisines are ranked among the world’s top cuisines, offering an endless array of delicious dishes with each region in Turkey and Greece having its own distinctive personality. The building blocks of the Turkish and Greek cuisine are fresh vegetables and fruit, seafood (try and catch your own fish for an on-board barbecue), grilled meat (lamb, beef or chicken; no pork in Turkey as it is a Muslim country) and salads. Typical of Turkish cuisine are ‘mezes’, often served as light lunch or as starters to the main course, dinner.

The cook pampers you during the whole trip with Turkish specialties and you will be served three meals a day (on most days). Every day starts with a traditional Turkish breakfast including freshly baked bread and ‘cay’, Turkish tea. Lunch will be served around midday and you will finish the day with dinner in the evening. All meals are served family style on deck. If you have any dietary requirements, simply let us know. All drinks, including alcoholic drinks, are included and you do not need to pay anything extra on board.
The crew
Our Turkish crew usually consists of a captain, cook and one or two deckhands depending on the size of the yacht. They are very experienced, are continuously at your disposal and will cater to all your needs. The cook pampers you during the whole trip with Turkish specialties and the captain, an experienced sailor, will ensure your safety at sea and will show you the most beautiful and picturesque coves and secluded bays. Between April and November we will try to sail whenever the wind gets strong enough and when you are experienced at sailing yourself feel free to assist the crew.

traveller reviews for Gulet cruise holidays in Turkey
We had a fantastic time. The boat was beautiful, the staff were attentive and very competent. We met great people, ate delicious Turkish food every night and we were sailing the same ancient waters that mankind has sailed for eons. We felt a real connection to Turkey, history and sea.

how this holiday makes a difference
|
On our trips we sail by wind, therefore we can still travel and see our fantastic world without emitting harmful emissions. So this blue cruise is not common done by motor, but we sail as much as possible by wind! We use the motor only due to anchoring procedures.
We love to create an easy going friendly atmosphere on the ship and we highly value each and every passenger on board. Many testimonials from guests tell us about psychological effects on their health and well being and how this positively effects their daily lives. To avoid the negative impact of mass tourism, we guarantee to avoid crowded harbours and bays. Also the ships only carry up to 12 passengers maximum. Our ships always stay overnight in quiet and smaller places. Depending on the wind direction and the guests wishes, the captain daily will program the sailing route and point out the places of interest. We support and host local underwater and beach clean-ups. Our guests are encouraged not to collect any corals or shells from the sea or beach. They are encouraged though to help us clean any garbage that they see in the water or on the beach. We have re-usable bags and crates to carry goods to the yacht. We recycle all the waste that we can (depending on the facilities available). We only use washable plates and cups and glasses for serving drinks and food on board. We ask all our customers to minimize water use. We have showers in the cabins and water is heated only after use of the engine. This also encourages customers to have a quick rinse after a swim rather than a full shower in the bathroom. We don’t have electricity at sea so we need to conserve energy while at sea. The boat with A/C is only used on very hot days and if guests would suffer from the heat. We encourage education through school systems; we offer stagiaires from the maritime education schools places to learn naval jobs. To encourage their graduation we offer them employment at our company. While working for us we train on the job and give them a chance to develop their skills. We employ our staff the whole year around, so there is no seasonal effect on family incomes. All staff members including their direct family are insured for health care and yearly medical check ups. To develop local employment our authentic wooden ships are made by hand on local ship yards, as well as the yearly maintenance of the whole fleet. We believe that if everyone took small steps to minimize their own impact on the environment, the world would be a better place. The best way for this to happen is for everyone to care and so we encourage interest in the environment and ways to protect it. We often see dolphins on our trips and this is a great way to encourage interest in our environment and the fragileness of the sea! Our holidays encourage people to participate in snorkeling and to enhance interest in our (under) water environment. We never visit turtle-beaches in the season when the turtles are laying their eggs and we do not promote riding camels or donkeys on the beach. We visit small villages as we travel and restock on route, using markets wherever possible, benefiting the local economy. We prefer small shops rather then large chains. Trying local goods is all part of the experience. For a direct positive effect for example we buy only fish at local fishermen and just the amount we need for direct consuming. We encourage our guests to get acquainted with locals and traditions and their culture. We offer visits to small villages to encourage local sales of hand made products and services. For example like drinking and dining at farmers places and showing their process of making carpets by hand, producing olive oil and gardening. We like to show our guests the enjoyable pace of life in Turkey! We offer people to visit the Underwater Museum in the castle in Bodrum, to inform the public about the rich history and the need of conversation of the sea and its marine life. We provide cultural and social guidance for guests: during the trip one of the crewmembers guides our guests and we have (language) books on board to encourage our guests to speak the language when on land. We are a family run business as well and we want that our and your children grow up in a clean and safe world which we today enjoy so much! Our holidays are focused on having a great time whilst minimizing our environmental impact. There are so many natural wonders and architecture to see and enjoy along the Turkish Coast. When guests extend their holiday on land, they are advised not to go to an all Inclusive hotel but encouraged to book local small hotels and buy locally. Almost 70% of our earth is made out of water and it needs to be protected! From every booking we save €10 per booking to donate to several (underwater) protection foundations who are active in Turkey and Greece. Therefore you will help to both save and enjoy our sea! |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
