the amazing things you'll be doing
We meet you at our tree climbing field which is located at a secret rural location on the Isle of Wight. We start with a full health & safety briefing and risk assessment. Once the paperwork is done, you are fitted with a comfy harness and a hard hat. After some knot tying practice, we talk you through what will happen and you are clipped into your rope which is already securely fastened to the tree. After a demonstration & practice, it's your turn to begin your ascent; closely supervised and instructed throughout.

Once you have climbed as high as you want to go, you can hang out in the canopy, maybe resting awhile in the tree hammock before abseiling to the ground through the branches. Back on the ground, the picnic blanket awaits you with homemade refreshments & a cup of tea to celebrate your achievement and replace all the energy you have burnt off. If you're still feeling adventurous, there's plenty of time for branch walking & hanging upside down...25ft above the ground!

Tailor made for groups: If you're looking for an outdoor activity for your group, our tree climbing provides fun outdoor adventure activities for small or large groups. We can accommodate hen & stag groups, corporate groups, work away days, family groups and all youth groups including scouts, guides & other youth groups. We can also provide custom packages for larger groups.
lower carbon travel
We encourage our climbers to come by public transport & to do this we offer a 5% discount for those coming by public transport, bike or foot & always give information on bus & cycle routes.
travellers' tales
Suspended 50ft in the air, enjoying the beautiful panoramic views framed by branches and leaves and then plucking up the courage to peer beneath was the most memorable part... pretty scary at first but fantastically liberating after the initial surprise. (more)
how this holiday makes a difference
Tree climbing is a low impact activity that does not harm the tree or the environment in which it stands. We use specialist equipment to protect the bark of the tree when climbing takes place. We do not have any signs, displays or any other structures in our field – we keep the environment as natural & rural as possible. We promote the positive benefits that trees have on our environment wherever possible during a tree climbing session. We encourage our climbers to come by public transport & to do this we offer a 5% discount for those coming by public transport, bike or foot & always give information on bus & cycle routes.

In our office we make positive attempts to minimise use of resources - we switch off the computer when not in use, we use energy efficient light bulbs in our home office. To reduce paper consumption we email or text directions to climbers and try to use the web for publicity as much as possible. All the paper that we do use for printing is either recycled from another local business (we double side the printing) or 100% recycled. Our publicity flyers are printed on 100% recycled pulp board using alcohol free veggie inks. We also encourage lift sharing wherever possible.

We love the Isle of Wight & are always keen to recommend other places on the Island that people may enjoy and that will benefit the local economy & environment. We support Gift to Nature & Trees for Life & collect donations for both charities from our customers. We positively support both these charities by giving people information about their work & suggesting places on the Island where people can be involved in a Gift to Nature project. We volunteer for the Wight Squirrel Project using our climbing equipment to climb trees to feed the local indigenous red squirrel population. All the tea, coffee, squash that we use is fair-trade and/or organic and is bought through local suppliers.

We work with other local companies & suggest packages for customers that include accommodations such as the B&B at Briddlesford Lodge Farm where our milk (for tea and coffee) comes from and local campsites that are members of the Green Island Tourism award scheme. We have one full time member of staff who lives locally & who has re-trained to become a tree climbing instructor. The flapjack is made by a local baker who lives 1.5 miles away. We always suggest a visit to the local pub for lunch after climbing.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
