the amazing things you'll be doing
Pembrokeshire is a sea kayakers paradise, and on these breaks you'll get the chance to experience at close hand the inspirational National Park coastline as you kayak beneath towering sea cliffs and into sun dappled caves. The sea kayak is the ideal craft from which to explore the coast – in a short time you can be away from other people, exploring the hidden coves, sandy beaches – leaving only footprints in the sand and taking away happy memories, health and fitness.
This coastline is world renowned as a sea kayaking paradise, with clean Atlantic ocean waters and the beauty and variety of the coastal scenery which includes waterfalls, sea caves and natural rock arches. On one of these events you can bob between sea stacks, catch waves through rocky channels, chill out in idyllic sheltered coves, or kayak surf onto secluded sandy beaches.
Kayaks are also the best means for observing a myriad of wildlife drawn to this stretch of coastline. You might find yourself kayaking amongst Atlantic grey seals that breed around the coast and off-shore islands, or porpoise and dolphins that live in the deeper waters of Cardigan Bay. The coast is awash with sea birds; kittiwakes, razorbills, choughs, shags and cormorants, also the impressive gannets who have their colony on Grassholm island.
Best time to go: We offer sea kayak events from May through to October every year. Autumn and Winter months are great for the surf, September brings Atlantic grey seals and their pups, and April and May bring a carpet of bluebells to the woodland. From May to July wild flowers including sea campion and rock samphire appear in a beautiful colourful succession on the coastal slopes, providing a stunning backdrop for any adventure.

how this holiday makes a difference
|
Sea kayaking is possibly one of the lowest impact methods of exploring the coastline – we have a ‘leave no trace’ policy on all of our kayak trips.
The low carbon nature of this event continues throughout the entire set up of our organization; your road journeys will be in our buses fueled with celtic bio diesel – using used cooking oil, and our adventure lodge utilizes a ground source heat pump for hot water and heating. All of electricity is sourced from green energy suppliers, we aim to provide a very low carbon event! We are a founder member of the Pembrokeshire Outdoor Charter group, and by following the Pembrokeshire Marine Code we ensure that your kayaking activities do not damage the environment, or disturb the wildlife. Our local kayak guides will explain the concept of the marine code at the start of your trip, and the guidelines will be followed throughout. We live locally, and will be able to share their extensive knowledge or the flora and fauna of the coastline with you, and will be able to offer you the chance to get a real feel for this beautiful stretch of coastline |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
